Anyone got one for sale? Utility or SUV? what are your preferences? Anything to avoid? I have a 5.5m boat and don't travel far but want something that can be used for the odd off road foray. Nothing too taxing

Old mans selling a 3.0L Subaru Outback if any interest.

I used to have one when I used to have the Ramco 5.8m fish master.

Plenty of grunt for towing, and also 4wd so good for paddocks ect.

Hi mate,

You might find this year-old thread below useful - guys you respect like Kitno were all over the debate which resulted from a very similar question.

It's utes v SUV and all the different makes - quite interesting. There are certainly two very strong camps.

I have an older model double cab Hilux SR5 which suits me fine as a beach tow wagon, wife's horse riding wagon, firewood wagon, all round family holiday wagon with all the bikes etc. But plenty of people say the Hiluxes are over-priced and over-rated, living off past glories and the old image. It's certainly not a dynamic road car, but that's not what it's designed for, and I find it fine on longer highway trips (I've never been into performance driving, though).

All comes down to personal preferences, same as boats...

look around the roads, see what from the old time era are still running...the big horn is still way up there.
Will pull anything, little slower on steep hills thu.. ie 5.5m going over the whitford hill gets down to 75km/hr
Thu anything older, getting something lower miles good body condition are few and far between.
Or more modern, a ssangyon post 2014.

And if going older deseil, make sure the pump has been re built for the modern fuel..thats expensive.

I don't think there's any easy answer..
Define off roading... Sand or wet sloppy paddocks.
All wheel drive isn't 4 wheel drive.
Low ratio to get that boat moving on the ramp, watched a few struggle last weekend.
Is it going to be your hack, or a good family wagon..
Most brands and models have their fans and horror stories.
you can't fix an idiot with duct tape, but it does muffle them for a while...
