With the bad weather on Sunday, missing the great weather on Monday
, I made a decision at 10.30 last night, I am going no matter what for a Tuesday morning session!
Yes! as most of you readers will know, on a jetski and others may wonder how practical could it be as a fishing platform? These are even more suited for a solo mission, when everyone else is at work and no crew to be found.

It didn't take long to prepare at first light, I was packed and the ski was in the water within half an hour of getting out of bed.
The conditions were great, almost glass, untill passing Motuihe and heading for the Noises where the wind was a little stronger. Still an awesome ride out there, all the way to the 31 metre hole on the far side of the Noises. It didn't take long and there was plenty of interest to the plastics, seem to smaller Snapper and this did not help with an old jig, not being sharper enough, as I kept on loosing them.

By 8.15am, I moved around to the Haystack, which had alot of activity for me a couple of weeks ago. Once again it did not let me down

, just better again, there was plenty of sign on the finder and hits to match. Good old 5" Nuclear Chicken was working again and a few nice pannies were added to the chilli bin. I was concerned it may be a waisted trip with no burley, but results were, constant activity with out it! Had quite a few drifts around this area ranging from 24 metres back to 13 metres, right on the Haystack, the jetski is great! you have the confidence to move close to the wash with reliability for quick start up to achieve another rewarding drift.
Once I ran out of Nuclear Chicken, I randomly tried the 5" Bloody Jerk Shad, this was even better again, a lot more interest. The fish weren't huge, only ranging from 370mm to 450mm, (not overly fat yet) I am sure they will be better in the next month!
With a few fish in the bin, I tried some other areas to see if things had changed with the fish coming in! In between this quickly nipping out to the Ahaaha's to get only a few hits.
Once back at Maria, I tried a few drifts at 23 metres and got a couple more Snapper for the family and a fist for me on the plastic a John Dory!
With the rain coming, I decided to head back as I had enough fun and fish for one day. This could be the only downer of these fishing platforms - to and from jetskifishing without goggles. The rain in your face at 90 kph

makes you think twice to purchase the right gear!
Stopped for another quick fish, until the rain had passed, then the day cleared up again.
Headed back to Bucklands Beach ramp, what a great trip out, well worth the morning off!

The fish are back biting and taking the plastics

, no smelly bait or burley used today! The news of the day was, the fish did not stop biting, from the time I got there, till the time I left! 6 good Snapper and 1 John Dory to take home, a great result for another fun trip.
Try the buzz of jetskifishing if you get a chance. As I often experience at the ramp, there is growing interest of more people wanting to utilise their jetski for fishing. PM me if you would like know more about rigging a jetski for Summer.
