We got back this morning from 10 days in Cabo. Was certainly worth the rather long flights there and back. Over 3 days wife and I caught 11 marlin , 2 sailfish (all billfish released), 14 yfts , 2 rooster fish and 1 dorado.
On nonfishing days got to swim and snorkel with whale sharks, sea lions and turtlles at La Paz and Cabo Pulma. Also saw lots of humpbacks broaching while fishing.
Here's a few fishing photos but have some really good video footage of 3 way strike we had on livies on 2 marlin and one of the sails. See "Videos" under Go Deep Sportfishing Adventures website, or Facebook.com/godeepgocabo.
Frankly the skipper and Go Deep crew the boat we fished on were excellent to fish with. I would highly recommend them. Franky is certainly one of top skippers and fisherman in Cabo, also catching the winning jumbo tuna at the big tuna tournament which was on while we were there.
All marlin except one were taken livebaiting as were both sailfish which were big ones and really put on a show for us. Tuna liked cedar plugs a lot. The rod wife is using in photo below was a seeker blank, paired with a tourium 30 reel. Very nice action rod as can be seen in shot.

It's a great place to fish alright.

And you definetly got the best boat, skipper and crew in Cabo.

Ah the memories,
All but the heat though.

Good fishing result for you, very cool.

Yeah Rowan certainly be tempting to come over to Australia again for a fish with you and learn some more about livebaiting.
Knowledge gained at Cabo and with you should help us be a bit more productive off Oceans later this season.

Cheers Ariel.. the marlin over there pretty easy to catch and roam not far offshore. Roosters are cool fish and pull hard for size. But best of all were two big sail fish we released.. They go ballistic on surface.

Well worth the effort Kevin and very good value when consider costs of hiring boats elsewhere. We had a lot of action and when you take into account what now costs to get taken fishing in pacific it compares favourably. We fished on very good boat but still cheaper daily than Tonga or Vanuatu for similar or not as good gameboat with expert crew. You can actually fish for $140 USD a day on pangas ( heaps of them no need to book) that are reasonably well outfitted in terms of rods and reels. Had decent horsepower and were catching billlfish, dorado and roosters and fishing similar areas. Then there are small gameboats for $450 USD a day. We were probably maybe around $600 USD a day USD plus tip which is around $150 to $200 a day.. depending how successful you are.
Advice would be book boat and trip through Macus at Travel Co. here.. as will probably get you in with Go Deep boat and crew from start but are cheaper options.
Food and drinks cheap in what is a very colourful vibrant town. Bigger than what I thought would be .. marina and boats (Vikings and Hatteras and super yhacts) a realeye opener, as are the impressive resorts along coast where yanks mainly stay. We stayed in town in very nice smaller accomodation.. right in thick of it. Probably more my style.
Learnt a fair bit as well. Awesome tackle shop called Minervas , leather, silver and other souvenir shops, not to mention tequila bars, cigar shops, and strip clubs.... not that was allowed into later those by wife. Restaurants and food really good outstanding value and quality.
Was meant to be trip of lifetime but now seriously thinking would be nice to save up and go back in year or so .. it is that good!
