Actually Y/day. Lost internet.
My mate from NZ has found a new way to hook fish. We will take it - they all taste the same irrespective. One of them cost me a gaff - but they cost whatever way. One was taken on a rigged bait, one on a live bait.
Today was a lot of effort for small return, but we do have some YF sashimi. Missed out on the target today - marlin or big YF.. One or the other did have a crack at our live bait, but failed to hook. tomorrow.
Regards

There some great size Mahi there Alan.

And a little sashimi tuna seals the deal, what times dinner.

Great size. Even the small ones are a mission to get onboard so can see how one that size gives you some greef. What weights do you recon? My best just 13.5kg . Comon to get them that size?

Krow - 15 kg. biggest I have had is 18kg. They can go 20+.
One of them I gaffed at least 3 times and it flung itself around that much it flipped off the gaff at least twice. Third time it twisted the gaff around in my hand - lost grip and then it flung the gaff off. Gone to the bottom - another offering to Tangaroa. Got my revenge with the spare gaff - which floats. You really have to gaff them first crack. I've done countless - but when they get to that size they give you run in terms of muscle.

Near enough - 3 1/2 hrs. 2 hrs and a few beers and a meal.
If you want to book a ticket sometime, maybe PM me. Can't guarantee fish. 2 mahi y/day. tried same at same spot today - for zero. But have new plans rigged for tomorrow. FFish and garfish (like piper) ready to go. Big Macs gamefish style. You need to be OK with 3am starts.
