so no one got out in the harbor for a try  , as last couple of years the fish have moved in abit earlier than they used to

I usually try a bit of prospect fishing in the harbour at night around September and even August although the last 2-3 years we had fairly mild winters which helped ,it can be a bit hit and miss at times but some nice fish can be caught when they are there, Nights are not too bad at the moment ,a few health issues currently stopping me from being up there when wind and tides are right, no matter the time although change of light can be better.
My thoughts are that you won’t know unless you get out there and get a bait in the water. I caught my biggest harbour snapper in September many moons ago so I reckon get out and give it a go.

Spotted a window of opportunity with wind, tide and change of light this afternoon for a shot up the harbour .got a mate over from Rarotonga for a couple of weeks, he’s a bit over catching Marlin and Tuna but hanging out for a snapper fix so with another mate on board we headed towards Motahoa from Sulphur Point at about 4pm caught two snapper in the last of the outgoing tide,sat through the turn of the tide,once the tide had been coming in for a bit we had a good bite going until the bite died at about 7pm.. pulled the pick at 7:30 and headed for home . Great little session 8 nice snapper 37 - 54cm and a nice big Gurnard as a bonus.Nice mild evening with the worst of the weather sliding by us and staying over town.

Any Harbour Updates? 

Popped out to Motiti last Thursday evening to give the new boat a run on the salt water and do an overnighter.

yes i have caught fish when others have not using barra , when you think about it over winter the waters full of them and they are dieingout there so a natural food for the snapps 

That will be testing your love for boating BOP Fisher, is the boat second hand or new.
Hope you get on top of the issues and start clocking up some hours of fun, it is an unforgiving pastime with many things that can go wrong.
I went to Motiti today, had nice conditions, nothing broke but came home empty handed.
Next trip will be in the harbour

Tough day at the office this morning up at 4.30 and parked in 10m up Matakana nice and early. Sunk a 6kg burley bomb for 1 45cm snap, no other bites. Very little drift so putting it down to that, glorious morning on the water though.
