Sure, so long as there's a "least fish caught" or "most kahawai accidentally dropped over the side" category!

Migration of snapper- I once spoke with a guy who was tagging snapper for MAF. He told me that a fish he tagged one day near Brown Island was caught two days later off Tauranga

Tried up the harbour last night by the Matapehi railway bridge. Loads of small snapper, gentle current in the shallows and not much weed. Only 2 keepers but a mangnificent evening

Can anyone tell me if they use softbaits successfully in the harbour and if so do you anchor up or drift?

Hi there barafat, yeah I've done both drift and anchor, had more success drifting but have caught doing both !
Have caught snapper, kingfish and plenty of kahawai usually drifting the channels sand banks or wharfs , if there's a couple of people capable of controlling the boat in a drift ,don't by shy about drifting between the boats moored at pilot bay. to our surprise we got 2 limits through there one evening mid summer last year

Nice haul kitno!
Just got in from a glass like harbour
Lovely day by zip.
Saw heaps of KY and a king but none were biting. Cut and stick baits zero.
Harbour comp
Five appear keen
Leading category - least amount of fish caught!

Has anyone noticed or suspect A bouy swell reading on the Harbour Conditions website appears faulty.
Hard to believe wind speed 0 knots all day and swell height of 2.3m. That swell height is not predicted by Metservice, Swellmap or Windguru.

Most forecast 0.9-1.0m with <8knts wind for most of tomorrow to 16:00pm.

Motorhead I suspect that swell height is correct given that the Wave Buoy off Pukehina is experiencing similar wave heaights.

Thanks for the confirmation Marligator. Maybe too uncomfortable to head out tomorrow as the wind direction is not favourable to flatten it out.

Anyone catch in the harbor this morning? Went out for the first time in a year and could hardly catch a undersized snapper. Think I should stick to the fresh water

Yes wind has been out all week at A Buoy but the wave rider is still working.Currently at A Buoy max wave is 1.6m and signifcant wave is 1.2m whereas the BOPRC Wave Buoy off Pukehina is reading 1.85m and 1.07m respectively. So A buoy wave heoghts are coprrect.
