Yeah its a 40hp merc with electric start/ tilt and oil injection, they are a bit noisy compaired to a 4 stroke but it goes well. Will cruise happy at 20 knots, only does another 5 or 6 flat out. I went out saturday, left sulphur point and went down to papamoa beach and moved a few times, went over to motiti and tried a few spots then went back to pap beach and back to sulphur point so would have to be about 55/60 kms?? still on the same tote, not much left in it though! Hey all question for those who have experience with Hapuku at the mayor knolls-
When targeting them would I be better to drop the baits on top or off the sides of the pins? Or should i be looking for them at the bottom of depressions?
While I do pretty well for bluenose I've only managed one tasty morsel of hapuku.

Hi everyone, back again on the forum, hoping to contribute with a report when I can. Old forum name was Cashedup, and after a change of email accounts at home couldn't get the site to recognise my password, so have been lurking here for a while and finally sorted it by just creating a new profile. I fish out of Bowentown, and go anywhere from harbour to Mayor.
Also headed out yesterday after skippys. Found them around Mayor in the Lassitors area at about 70mtrs. Like Marligator found they were all quite small, but managed to get a good number on purple and pink/white lures.
We then headed back in to about 30mtrs to try for a snapper for dinner. Deployed the anchor and baits and found we were battling strong current against breeze which had the lines going all over the place, but still ended up with a decent feed of good size snaps in a little under an hour, before calling it quits for the day.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable day on the water with my two kids. Can't beat it!

Nice catch mate. What depth were they taking at? Trying to get out soon but will have to wait until bad weather disappears

They were all in 15/20 mtrs

Care to give me some pointers as to how to do it? How do you go about locating them or do you have a spot that constantly produces? How does your neighbour catch them at the entrance?
