My brother has got a skin of a Thar.. he asked me to inquire whats the best method for tanning it??

Any help to point me in the right direction...  what chemicals and processes??

leidreters was what i used,belive it could now be called this..http://www.outdoorsupplies.co.nz/tanningproducts.htm
 
you just have to scrap and work the skin hard before tacking out,i still have a deer skin i did in the late 1980s ,still soft and no hair slip,also did lots of goat skins and even a pig skin,just follow the instructions and be prepared to spend a good part of a day fleshing it and getting all the fat off,get some pumice aswell ,that helps in the final fleshing prep,the more you do on it the better it will come out.

thanks for that.. my bro isnt scared of getting his hands dirty..   hes rough as guts actuallyWink

has anyone got a basic list of chemicals to do the job?? and a basic method?

we bought a tanning kit a few years ago and did some nice calf skins. Skins still good and the kit only cost about $30.
