Went out to have another look today, just to make sure last weekend wasn't a fluke. Managed to snag 4 nice fish this morning, best of 7 pounds, with the little one being 3.5 pounds. Had plenty of hits as well and managed to break off a couple of flies (a double of solid fish doesn't work well with light leaders). The little fella was a tagged fish, which is a first for me.

Between Gisborne Point and Ruato Bay. Most of the action was around 17 to 22 metres.

Superb couple of days jigging thursday and friday.
We caught trout from 12 inch new releases to fat hogs up to 3.23kg (7lb) fishing mostly Gisborne point and Hauparu bay.
Thursday hooked about 12 and kept 6. Two fishing.
Friday was very good fishing with over 25 hooked and with 3 fishing we kept another 8-9 plus a few for the guys back at the lodge that wanted an eater to take home.
Gisborne pt fish were either in 15-18m or out in 25-27m  - got our biggest here but fish were of all sizes.
Hauparu bay we were lucky to find a slot just loaded - see sounder shot - when we first got there there were far more fish showing- absolutely stacked, Fishing as good as it gets for half an hour with nearly every drop hooking up , net bitch calls being ignored , mayhem and a hell alot of fun too.
Trout were preferring darker Pat Swift patterns - the grey ghost favourite for many years was not flavour of the day.
Thank you Laurie and Garry for sharing the fun.
