Just spent 3 days fishing Rotoiti with mixed results.     Advise was to fish Ruato.     Found lots of fish in a patch below the house at eastern bush ridge.     Fish did not bite all that well but I managed to keep 8 good fish to 3kg.     Next morning the fish were still there but refused to bite.     Looked for other fish in the area but could only find the odd sign.    When I got back to the fish concentration they had all gone not a single sign on the sounder.     In late afternoon they were back there again but still had their mouth sown up.    A local Kayaker spent most of the time in the area and also blanked out.    On Monday the fish were back in the same bubble but still refused to show any interest in my new UV Grey Ghosts.     Was it the flies or uncooperative fish?    Well I am pleased to say that my flies worked a treat when I fished further along the shore near the point.    There were very few fish around but I still caught 11 fish, far more than the several fancy boats that had accumulated in the area.
I fished with three Grey Ghost flies; the middle one I had painted the head with "UV Blast".   It really glowed under UV torch light.    That fly caught 6 fish out of 11.     It also caught more on Saturday.

Nothing conclusive but worth monitoring if this additive is making flies more attractive.

I am glad I did the trip even though the weather was not the best and sitting in a wet kayak by late afternoon I was stiff, sore and cold.    Back again in November Covid 19 willing.

Cheers

Rainbow

Cold and wet but you got plenty of fish. The /uv blast seemed to work well.👍
