Hi there,
I am new to lure fishing and am looking at a rod for use with my thunnus 8000 that can also double as a good rock rod.

The shimano backbone topwater spin rod, 8 foot 3, 30-50lb is what I am looking to get.

There is no lure rating on the rod, what stickbait/popper size would you recommend?

TIA

Additionally, is there a specific reason no lure weight is listed with the rod? I have seen many of the other backbone topwater rods do not have a lure rating either

Hi Brownie and welcome. A rod like that would cast a popper no worries as poppers are generally light. I am not a rock fisherman though so don't take that as gospel. Buy one and do some practice casts. If the rod doesn't load up and cast for miles don't worry as kings often stick in close. A call to Marine Deals may well answer your question though.
