Done Charters, Kawhia.
Out on the Wild Goose yesterday. Nice and calm with a decent swell.
Fishing was steady and back at wharf at 15.00. One boat had, obviously, in an hour before us and their 3rd boat hadn't come in when I'd left. Some good snaps, plenty of sharks and kahawai and a few gurnard.
8 kg of fillets - at $50/kg  - $400!! plus gurnard and kahawai. $130 per trip - $15 for bait,

Like the numbers. I did a 20 litre trip the other day with 8 kg snapper fillets, 6 kg tarakihi, 2 kg gurnard fillets and a few trevally and kawhai fillets. A couple of crays cherry on the top…..BIG down side as Mrs won’t let me go fishing till we cut through the Kia Moana. Fed 7 families but still got some chew ahead….all good wether is rubbish for the next bit.

Looking like there might be some FADs 22km off shore in a few years.

Got lucky with the weather on Wednesday calm seas and bugger all swell and wind better than the forecast predicted. Straight out to 50m didnt take long until we had our first customer a nice Gurnard then we were into the Snapper, didnt take long to catch a good feed. Had a Shark pay us a visit and collect some tackle.  Biggest Snapper a little over 55cm and a couple more around 50cm. Came in closer to Carters beach to see if we could get a couple more Gurnard before coming back in caught one more so after half an hour made the short run back in.   Back home early so plenty of time to take the boat out to the lake for a fresh water run and clean.

Hi Guys

Has anyone seen any sign of albacore out from Raglan lately? We’re fishing in the NZSFC youth nationals and are trying coming up with a plan to target an albacore on light line.

Thanks in advance!

Motor out to 40 M look for birds . Usually due west of Manu does the trick.
Best of luck.

Had a couple of good days out Sunday out to 56meters then  63m Snapper, Gurnard, Kahawai  and a good sized Kingi 13,2kg caught on bait on the sand. Some good sized Gurnard about around 40cm.  No big Snapper most were around 40 to 50cm all good eating..  If you are heading out West  go deep 60m plus some boats were going to 70m plus.

Fishing is very good at present so get out there while when you can.

Finally got back out to Raglan last Tuesday after having the last 3 trips to the Mussel farms out from Waikawau, straight out to 55m. Gurnard were on the bite with the odd Snapper making a appearance.  heard a few did well shallower on the Snapper in closer.
Moved north but more of the same more Gurnard good conditions and a friendly bar to cross in the morning.
Joggle was its usual joggle on the way in on a out going tide. All in all a great day out.

We were out Tuesday the 19th as well, through the Port bar. 51m mark job done in two hours, including half an hour of slow fishing over the top of the tide. Nice west coast pannies nothing huge.
