We went out last Friday, not much swell on the bar, out to 45, and worked our way out to 55m Most places we stopped we caught fish but it was fairly slow. Two reasonable snapper and eight good sized Gurnard, poor for us (we normally don't keep many)
Tried the drogue out for the first time, impressive how it can slow a 7 m boat down to a crawl! We normally stop and anchor and wait which seems to be the best way to fish at Raglan but opted to drift fish, possibly why we didn't do as well as expected. Last trip out there we binned up drifting with sliders. It was great to get out again in near perfect conditions.

Were you fishing lures while drifting or bait? or both?
We were in sub 20m, just dropped anchor and fished bait on ledger/dropper rigs.
Tried slow jigging for a little bit while at anchor(sometimes works) but no takers this time. Would have tried lures a bit more as prefer that sort of fishing but weather was iffy early on then the fish came on, weather came right and didn't really think about pulling the pick when it was chaos for about 2 hours.

We used both the lures worked just as well especially if near the bottom Ive caught large snapper on them out here in November so I know they work If there were fish on the sounder we got hits straight away
