yep have used that exact blue one in the pic. works, have hooked up, kicks up a good wake and makes a decent rattle a little bulky and kind of 'floats' (mid air) when you cast but can get it far out enough. once its in the water it comes down nicely

oh GTs, i wish we had GTs around the waitemata :-) well that sounds promising, ive watched a couple of vids and it certainly seems to produce some action. i like the reflective strip, it looks gnarly. the bubble effect of the jets seems a good idea. surprised to hear about it floating during cast, the whole idea they said in the video is the weight in it helps to cast it further. |

| I have been using one for the last 2 months at anchorite. They sure make a big splash and I have caught a few Kings at 10kg on it. I have changed the trebles to singles as I found the front treble gets caught around the line sometimes. . |

Ok its a must buy for me then. What singles would you recommend switching too? I fish out of an inflatable so trebles give me anxiety anyway. |

inline decoys....inline shogun......inline raptor(smelli selling some on here)...........probably 8/0 with size 10 owner splits would work well.  ------------- Once the idiots turn up..Im outta here...No time for Drama Queens. |

I've found the connections/ internals give out on these with decent fish. Probably alright on small models with lighter drag. |

| they work, but the plastic side see through windows get crushed by big GT's and as said above the internals, swivels and lack of through wiring cannot handle big GT's and hard drags. (I have not used them for kingfish though) |

personally id buy a stick bait over a popper for targeting kings in nz... a starwalker, even a r2s one cheep off torpedo7, couple of cheap half decent options out there that work better in some/most situations than a popper imo zac |

River to sea rovers have a good action on em...some have rattles........The dark brown one looks like a young blue cod(had plenty of interest on that one) for your 100 budget id go for shimano ocea pencils or Orcas.........starwalker 180 floaters......If you can get a waxwing daddy from usa(tackle direct).......that would be good too.....big single hook hangin off em ....these are all easy to swim......I believe the orcas come with trebs.....the pencils and starwalkers dont.....i use 7/0 inlines on both of them and prefer them to trebs........You can have a good play on them ....these two i painted.  ------------- Once the idiots turn up..Im outta here...No time for Drama Queens. |

REF.....the inlines= The inline hook i put on this smaller one did seam to tame the action a bit(I wonder if a longer owner jobu might be better suited) but those daddys come with that big inline hook as standard......
Ref the williamson jet popper= I just watched some dood catch a 100 pound GT on a williamson jet popper(on nomad fishing charters video)......so hey but being plastic must be a downside. ------------- Once the idiots turn up..Im outta here...No time for Drama Queens. |

Possibly not the best example of durability, given it is possible to catch a marlin on a fly hook......Doesnt mean they are the best tool for the job. Like a lot of lures Its possible to catch a big fish on one, my preference is to use something through wired. The belly hook on the jet poppers is seemingly locked into the lure by a steel pin held in place by plastic. Fishing it with an appropiate drag will probably see the job done, clamp the spool or lock down the drag on a big fish ????? ------------- "I love standing by the ocean and just knowing what its for" |

i looked again at the Jet in the store today, they are a lot bigger in the flesh than i expected. wow they look the goods, the jets look like they will turn the water into a washing machine and i love the reflector mirrors in the tail. im no popper expert but i want one just for GAS edit: just read your post titahi, that makes sense, so possibly not the best durability? |

i think hes saying itll stand the normal 15ish kg kingies (my experience too) and should be fine with the bigger ones as long as you play them a bit. of course if youre targetting massive GTs then they might do some damage lol :) |

Was looking through my stuff and found what i think is a perfect inline hook for the 138 waxwing......top of pic is the daddy waxwing. I have changed the second one for the hook i found....which is a smaller one of the one on the daddy.....dont know what its off but it looks perfect. the bottom one has an inline shogun..... will give them all a cast soon......i found the inline shogun tamed the action a bit......i wonder if its a bit light......the middle one could be good.  ------------- Once the idiots turn up..Im outta here...No time for Drama Queens. |

I was in fco and noticed they have smaller WJs than the one I originally saw, they do look good but i noticed the plastic feel today more on the small ones i saw. |
