Fella called sparky got two of these Pretty good Effort By himself though it was pretty notable. Any thoughts about ID of fish

Big Eye, - Body shape is quite stocky and if you zoom in on the hanging fish in the photo with both fish you can see that it has short sickles (see photo below where I have marked the fins in thin red line. Not difinitive but a good indication that these are not yellowfin, on a yellowfin of this size you would expect them to be a lot longer than this. The other phot is of a 62 kg YFT I got in 2005 and you can see the big difference in fin length.

I know Sparky personally, he sent me pics of them to my phone, I all so called them big eye. However he said that they had been liver checked and possibly identified as yellow fin. Interesting article in the Bluewater mag about them and the different sickle lengths!! ------------- I own 501 lures, but i can only run 5 at a time. What to do??? Man I have some sleepless nights!!!! |

| Criminal to smoke that stuff , orsum effort. We got two 50 kg models a while back got them on ice rendered them down and vac bagged kept for six months could still eat it raw after 4 months amazing fish would give the lefty for a few hundred grams with wasabi now let alone a whole fish... |

Yes a decision ALLOWING bleeding of fish after capture was implemented quite a few years ago, cant put an exact date on it but at least 10yrs ago. I was weigh master at Whangamata when this decision came into force. Paul would probably know exact year Pretty common sense rule as tuna especially need to be bleed to make for better quality meat ------------- www.kavemantackle.co.nz
