Some of posters on here make me want to dig out my eyes with a pine cone.
A few of the other boards I frequent on the interwebs have an ignore function for filtering out the drivel. Yes I know I should just "ignore" or "don't feed the trolls" / pay no attention to the posts. But, actually making the posts & topics started by someone on my ignore list not show up would be so much easier.
Unfortunately it's getting to the point where you can't ignore them imo, even if there was an option to remove the digits they should be using to type up posts it still wouldn't stop from from repeatedly mashing their faces on the key board until the desired level of **** had been reached to qualify hitting the submit/post button (which can be done with out the use of hands or fingers).
So much so, I cringe at the though of opening/starting topics these days in case they show up in it.
Surely there must be something the devs could do to introduce it.
And if I have some how missed it. Please, please, before I manage to track down the right pine cone for the job!
Enlighten me.

Just curious, but with an ignore function, wouldn't a lot of the threads not make any sense?

the real problem is that people take it personally rather than a debate. They then hit back personally rather than with a question or answer. the written word has no emotion so it should not be assumed that its personal

for goodness sake, you know a number of years back we never had this sort of crap, you said what you wanted within reason and got on with it, it is a pity we live and play in a nanny state, to many just troll and then complain about certain people, it is a public forum with rules but them those who enforce the rules dont you need to have good reason to ban someone not that they just dont like you.
Boulder asked on facebook what was wrong with this site and why the good buggers have all left or dont give a dam with the place, their call but there is something behind it all, anyone care to hazard a guess?

Now would we wont to miss that gem?

going to facebook I would have thought shows less intelligence!
whats facebook again but a self centred outlet for people...only smart people never sign up for it...
hey at least Fnet has "character"
the obvious is that people seem to have lost the ability to "tune out" the crap.
perhaps too many PC pills taken.... not far different to those silly women in the herald the other day who blame all for the sun heating up play equipment - god forbid didn't anyone tell them the sun was here first.. to many on here seem to subscribe to the same disease.

As Zambezi said earlier alot of people cant be bothered posting on the forum, a few have just stepped over the line to many times- destroying threads - being abusive - talking rubbish and so forth... and thats not including the rude and abusive pm's that some of us get..

It would be handy if we could ignore sections. It would be great if when I looked at new posts I didn't have 2 pages of buy/sell threads! An ignore thread option would be useful to a lesser extent. An ignore poster option doesn't appeal as much, the ignore thread option would get rid of the threads where the same people go on and on and head a topic in a direction I'm not interested in.

show new posts is doing all sorts of whack sorting for me now, I got 3 brainy bar sections on the last refresh split up by the walk about & game updates.
None of the sorting options have fixed it.

I don't think we should need the option of a mediator, if someone annoys/keeps posting **** and I just didn't see their content after a click or two...
They would annoy me less and the quality of my time here would improve.
Rather than the whole mod/mediator making a call and hiding/suspending/banning/approving posts for people.
JSF only helped with an example, he's certainly not the only person I would add to an ignore list if I could.
And it's not about having my nanny state PC feelings hurt or taking a concrete pill or that i'm anti social or I hate freedom of speech or that I don't like confrontation, it comes down to if I can be ****ed or can't be ****ed with some of the personalities on here anymore.
Still tonnes of reasons I enjoy being involved.
The list of reasons I don't is growing though.

An ignore function would be good, if the ignored person didn't get challenged/replied to, or quoted. So it's kinda hard I guess, to eliminate the crap you don't want to see. The easiest option ( yes it's hard, I'm a shocker for it, getting involved in the asinine shyte, and contributing to it) is to ignore it and move on I feel.
Btw, am I the only one who wants to secretly see your list of people you want to ignore?

We use proprietary software and as far as I'm aware that function isn't
a feature in the current set. However I'll talk to the suppliers and
see if that's possibly a development they'd consider.
The reality
check is that forums will never reflect a perfect world for everyone -
it's a matter of filtering and putting your time and energy where it's
worthwhile like many other aspects of this life. Simply put, it's not
all bad or all good. It's a mish-mash mixed combo of those things and
everything in-between.
Maybe it's hard to gloss over those posts
(from posters that you have no respect for, or for whatever reason,
annoy you) but it's quite possible - just takes some practice.
Maybe that's not the solution for everyone but with a minimum amount of effort, it's certainly achievable.

Not permitted, however if they can get past the eagle eyes of the dozen razor-sharp mods then Boulder and Bull will sniff them out & go round to their place and sit on them!
On the odd occasion that it's been tried, they've cunningly managed to give themselves away in about the first 30 seconds as generally people that get a spell in the cooler can't help themselves in the first place.
By and large the vast majority realise they've over-stepped the mark and take whatever is dished out on the chin.

I have 2 IP addresses so may be ok but if your chucked out then its time to go anyway

In most instances if someone has been banned and then reappears under a different name we usually pick up on it pretty quick due to the unique way in which people seem to make donkey backsides of themselves. The suspicion can then be confirmed or otherwise through sneaky electronic avenues that I can't disclose due to the oath I took to protect this site and it's members from displays of dickheadery!

Well good old JSF has gone ... this guy has a long history on f.net and I guess he'll be back in guise no 8 pretending to be someone altogether different. He has an opinion on everything but lacks substance, I wont miss him one little bit.
he has a hatred for Uncle that no moderate people would share. JSF is a stork of the highest order. good riddance.
Now there can be as many Facebook pages as you want with your own special point of view, you're welcome to that. If you don't like this place that's fine too, just don't post here everyday about how much you hate it. If you are like the other 99% then you will enjoy every minute.
No one is forcing you to come here and complain, if you feel you must do that then don't grizzle about the world being too PC because you're probably part of the problem.

Could a verification process help? eg more mandatory information? face to names? etc etc
Half the problem is keyboard warriors knowing no one knows who they are what they look like, seems to give some people an outlet for the voice they wish they could use in the everyday life without the social responsibility of saying something stupid/offensive.
Just a thought but may be a lot of work also

Nice idea L-t-s but very difficult to administer. We do require every account to have a correct name and surname and current contact details of an e-mail address and phone number.
If anyone notices an account with details that are obviously incorrect can you please let me or one of the mods know by PM?

if you guys are seriously getting this upset over things maybe you should just not read the posts. i dont understand why you let it even bother you at all. ive learnt heaps from this website and ive been fishing at every chance i get since i was 3 and im 32 now so have a far better knowledge of fishing than most. like everything in life filter out the crap and focus on the good stuff. some of you will proberly get offended by this but hardern the f$#k up. some of you sound like little kids at school crying to the teacher that your getting picked on. try actually going fishing and catching fish then any problems you have will go away. the only problem i have is when i havent caught a fish for a week
