Hey I may be able to offer something here - in 2012 I took the year off work, packed the gear and lived in Indonesia doing a swag of GT fishing, but I spent 3 weeks in Kuala Rompin in the peak of the season.  I had groups of mates come and go to fish from Australia and New Zealand but I stayed on, fishing 19 days out of 21.  I would rate it as one of the experiences of my life and every one should fish Rompin at least once.  4 days there would be plenty for most.  I can put you in touch with who I regard as the most professional operation if you wish, and its pretty cheap when you look at the fishing.  I blog extensively, and did quite a few from my time there... if you follow them start to finish you get a good feel for it :) any questions, fire away :)

Hook line and sinker, the guys name is Anthony Sullivan , we did this about 3yrs ago fantastic experience and as far as we are concerned he would be the best operator would definitely go with him again, he will pick you up in either Singapore or Kuala lumpur and arrange the full accommodation package. be careful there are a couple of operators that were not delivering what was promised. Happy  to talk direct with you.

Bit late for me to reply to your post now but Sky and Steven Chong out of Rompin are the top skippers, Sky has taken out the last tourament as well as many time before. Two of us fished three days with him last week and landed 28 Sails ( all happily released ) - typically leaving the wharf at 8:00am and home by 4:00pm, a quick stop or two to fill the livebait tank then off you go to fing the birds, the only thing that stopped us doubling that tally was lack of another fisherperson. I would recommend Sky to anyone, he runs a 36 foot cat with twin 225 Honda 4/s. Very quick and very stable, many times we were doubled up with one angler up on the foredeck and the other in the pit, those fire crackers are damned quick and have you running around the boat especially when on a double from a stationary boat.
