Gents,

Intend to pick your brains and seek your recommendations. Keen to go after GTs and dogtooth. Any good charter recommendations please? Live on board/daily trips is all good.

Mike on Black Pearl in Aitutaki for GTs - I think you will find plenty of people on here will recommend him as per when I asked a similar question :)

Cheers Deacs. Just googled his website. It seems to give me the correct answers that I am seeking. Haha. Quick and jig/popping focused only. No trolling...chur

Hi Furstimer,

as deacs has said: Mike on Black Pearl in Aitutaki is the who you want for GT s and jigging. check out gtpopping.com for lots of trip reports and photos with him, also have a look at tripadvisor.

Mike and his wife Mere are legends.

Get on a plane straight to Aitutaki if you want GTs & jigging. Raro boats not really interested.

Thanks mate for the thumbs up recommendation too. Black Pearl seems like the goto guy for a great trip. Yet to talk to him as my mates and I can't agree on a suitable time-frame in 2014. Do you guys know if there is a preferred fishing window etc?

GTs are resident in Aitutaki so available year round. Same for jigging for Doggies. Jan to April are my best months there if I had to choose but anytime you can get there really. Tourist busy season is NZ winter, prices go up. Low season is NZ summer, prices go down.
