Basically a miniature "Surf Candy" (Saltwater fly) This pattern has been my go to smelt for years. however I have been playing with the Loon UV Fly Finish as a substitute for epoxy and it does make life a lot easier. The dark line above the tail is a piece of Silver holographic flashabou. one each side. Didn't photograph well.

Should bring some of those to the salmon schools out here in Sydney mate.
Was out this morning with a mate chasing them using little smelt pretty similar to those.

They go down a treat - pun intended.

Nice tie mate!

Auckland went exceptionally well. We did one on Turangi a couple of months back. I am sure CFR (Who runs and benefits from the events ( http://www.castingforrecovery.org.nz" rel="nofollow - www.castingforrecovery.org.nz ) will run more in the future.

Provided our mail works (had a sage travel to the South Waikato via Palmerston north yesterday) a dozen of the Looney Smelt should arrive. Tied by Clark himself really looking forward to the Rotorua stream mouths coming into their own if only this weather sorts itself out.!
