So turn back the clock a few months and I was fresh off an Enchanter trip full of dreams and big fish chasing ambition after getting a king over 40kg on a 50gm Synit. A few emails to Graeme and a plan was hatched to build a big game rod capable of catching swords and giant bluefin using the yet to be released (then) Stella 30000 spinning reel. It had to be parabolic like a jig rod, but have enough grunt to stop pretty much anything short of a blue whale.

Well today I took delivery of the beast, which has yet to be named (or even made in any great numbers). I thought I would share some pics (apologies in advance, I can take better pictures of rifles)

Colour matched to the distinctive Stella gold/black, the marble is awesome.

Attention to detail on this rod is brilliant, with a heavy duty Fuji seat and carbon/Kevlar? wraps showing through at various points.

Huge thanks to Synit for building this work of art, although people have come to expect that Synit rods are top of their game, in my humble opinion, this just took it to the next level.

I'm sure MIB will answer questions about the custom blank used/Guides/finish etc.

Cheers.
Chris.

look great, love their work and so good to see spin synits being requested in NZ, most of them seem to go overseas. How long is this rod out of curiosity?

The rod took longer than expected to build as the blank had a few changes to it to accommodate the requirements of the angler.... I had it ready to send a month back and dropped a few excuses to Chris why it hadn't turned up... sorry a few white lies Chris but I was waiting to hear back on how it's sister rod performed before we sent the rod to you... remember I said we would build 2 in tandem when we started the project.... lets just say the sister rod got well tested and still lives so I'm more than happy for you to get out there and deal to whatever swims in any waters... only regret is we didn't put a spin harness on it...

It had to be between 5ft 3in and 5ft 5in Jono... I would even do one with an alloy or carbon bent butt for species that fight vertical like swords..... on the sister rod had giant Mekong catfish and sharks of 250-500kg plus but the fight was not an up and down grunt match... oh and all the fish were released back in good condition....
