Looking to spool a reel with approx 300m of 50lb braid, have had a look at some past posts on the topic,
seems Jerry Brown is pretty popular and the odd person using Stren Mirco. Have been using suffix 10kg 832 for softbaiting and have found it really good. Anyone tried using berkley fireline in 50lb?

Cheers

I was using 50lb powerpro, and have recently respooled with YGK castman PE6, which has made a massive difference to my casting range. It is much more supple than normal braid, and I'm noticing less wind knots.

X2 but using the allwhite solid 8strand from OZ. Is slightly flat profile and would be interesting to try the hollow...

Has any one used the Jig star braid on a spinning reel for top water? If so did it work out all right? Got a 300m spool and thinking about using it on my saltist. Yeah or nah?

Tasline is NZ made & rated pretty highly by http://www.paulusjustfishing.com/" rel="nofollow - Paulus - in fact he sells it - but he's more focused on quality & strength - don't know if he gets into castability. His site can be a bit hard to read, but some seriously good info in there.

Heard good reports about the Varivas, but hard to go past YGK if you don't mind spending the $'s, though the Jigman X8 is about the same price as the Varivas. Daiwa's Saltiga boat & Tournament are a bit cheaper & probably good value for money.

If it's 6 or 8 strand & made in Japan or the USA it should be quality braid - just be careful with the TradeMe $30 specials
