I personally find overhead easier than spin and better chance of hooking up on the drop. There is pluses and minuses each way If your fishing the big fish places such as kings/ranfurly this would be a reasonable set but I would look at a specialist rod such as jigstar/JM/synit If your fishing other places I would go one rod lighter. Big more fun and easier to jig |

To put it simply Fletch - DON'T, its hard on the wallet and hauling 10kg's of jigs plus your other gear is hard on ya body. Seriously, a crack habit is easier on the bod and bank acct. ------------- I waste most of my money on fishing tackle. The rest I invest in women and booze. |

Yea 400g is pretty heavy. 250g would be what i'd suggest if just starting out and over head as well but that's just personal preference. ------------- Go the Warriors! |

Hey Fletch I started with a Stella 20K but honestly it's just too much I now use a Stella 8K PG. It has a massive drag the perfect retrieval 91cm & palladium gears which delivers wicked torque. Doesn't have the line capacity of the 20K but I got 280 Mtrs of 37Kg Diawa Accudepth on mine. Before you buy ask yourself do you need "all that" 20K weight & all. Have a try on a overhead setup . And try the spin and see what feels better , me personally I prefer overhead , others spin . The 20 k will be mean for pitch baiting to mr stick face . |

| 20k is a big stella mate will be hard on the arms gotta remember you wont get spooled by a king it will reef you first guys catch 40 kilo on 10000 just need that drag which a 10k or 14k has ,get a 20 k if you wana livebait for marlin when your not jigging ,a mate of mine snapped one of those jigrexs not very good rods imo dont know what your budget is but good thing about spin is you can get a spare jm spool loaded with casting braid if you get into stickbaiting all you need is the the one reel and just change between rods works for me |

Yeah mate got a Occea jigger for the OH set up and a Daiwa Saltist 6500 for the spin. Good point about the spin being that it is a bit more versatile if you got a couple spools. All we need now is for the wild wild west coast to settle down a little. Or we could look at maybe doing a mission over to the coromsndel, either way I think the kings are really firing right now!!!

Pe5 good choice. Cant go past the oj for retrieve though. Ive been hit on those hard days when the big fish like fast jigs. Def take both those reels out with u. Oj prob suited to 3-500 gm rods. Pe5 is a good allrounder w plenty of sweet drag. One thing guys over look is line retrieve. Ratios only tell half the story. If you have a small spool w 6.1 it may retrieve less than a large spool at 4.1. Enjoy ur new kit!! ------------- Synit Prototype bender |
