Have pretty much decided to fit an autopilot to my 6.8m Ramco Patrol for the upcoming season. 200hp Yamaha HPDI with hydraulic steering. The players seem to be Simrad AP12, Coursemaster CM800 and the AP-R from TMQ Electronics. Anyone got experience of any of these units (good or bad) . Also the Simrad blokes insist their unit is eezy-peezy to fit at home yourself (including the NMEA0183 interfacing to your GPS) Oh yeah? - is that really the case in the real world?

Cheers

Have fitted a ap12 to my 21ft'er. Great unit. American fishing boards seem to rate this for reliability and performance as best, Cannot argue.

cheers

on my mates launch he has a course master im not sure which model though but it works very well. it has some good features like emergency turn button which makes the boat turn 45 degrees almost instantly at any speed. hope this helps
