Maybe it could be suggested to Milan and nathan if they could use the actual name of  bullet tuna instead of calling it bullet bonito to save any confusion such as jet ski fisher thinking it was baby skipjack.

Posted By: Kezza
Date Posted: 09 Sep 2013 at 11:30am
probably should have called it George - George is a good name for a Bullet Tuna.

skipjack aren't bonito, bonito aren't bullet tuna

Wacko ....a quick biology lesson for you:

Bonito aren't a "family" they are a sub species within the family classification Scombridae which Dogtooth (not sure why those cropped up in this discussion?) and Bullet Tuna along with 50 odd other species dwell.

scombridae is the family of mackerels bonito and tunas The family consists of 51 species in 15 genera and two subfamilies , and doggys fit right in the scombridae family and scombridae are open water predatory fish like yft bluefin etc etc..dr julian pepperell will confirm this...he is the fish id guy on the aussie tv escape with ET program..so just saying what he wrote to me.

Big Thumbs up!!!! Now that is how I'd like to catch Marlin. No doubt the resident experts will be along shortly to bark about everything they did wrong and the braid naysayers etc., dropped fish, mono stretches yadda yadda. But I loved that. Down with game chairs and heavy overheads. With the majority of Stripies that are caught ain't that massive. As Bob said, get up, stand up. Inspiring stuff. Like the attitude and good results for first time out.  For Reallll.

those snapper is where its at,
see another just like me cant catch those barstools when they are surface crashing like that,
simple if you cant match the hatch they dont wanta know,
so as you leave em know problem to hook-up, dropping a few is on everyone's cards regardless of who you are,
loved how they filmed that show keeps you interested all the way through,
well done guys, another great effort...

Yes great show Milan, fantastic to see strippies crashing the surface feeding like that, just a little plug for those Daiwa Lexa 300HS-P baitcaster reels, had a play with one last week, went to upgrade drag and service for a client.
Well nothing I could do to improve this drag system as it gives 10Kg(22lbs)  of smooth progressive drag out of the box with no mods, better than any other baitcaster I have seen from any other make ever, out of the hundreds of little reels I have serviced these are by far the best engineered , well done to Daiwa,Clap and No I did not get paid to say this or even own one yet, cheers swordfishsteve

I really enjoyed seeing the marlin action tonight was a good change from big kingis and snapper. Was totally impressed with the performance of the saltiga that was used on the stripey makes me wonder how well the new penn series 5 spinfisher 10500 would handle taking on a marlin .

I finally figured out what stands this show out from the others ... they showed the dropped fish. Really enjoyed todays show, probably helped that I was sitting there writing my "to do" list of NZ fishing missions for the next couple of years, was inspiring seeing first time game fishers striking stripes, there may be hope for me yet ;)

Really starting to enjoy this show thanks lads.  Something sets it apart from the others.  Not that the others are bad but as my missus said, this ones a lot more relaxing to watch.

Posted By: Surf_fisher
Date Posted: 16 Sep 2013 at 12:05pm
if you have freeview, sky etc there is a T.V3 repeat channel to catch the programs you missed they repeat BAF after the screening on normal TV3 while the news is on and it suits me as if the missus does not wish to relinquish the TV for 30 mins I bugger the TV off to the tv3 repeat channel and I still get my fix.

Mik I actually enjoy watching both BAF and ITM but I find that BAF has an edge over ITM they show the boys letting off steam at the end of the show plus milan gets right into the how to's of certain things such as handling and releasing sharks as per the bronze whaler episode in the coro and matakana to try and help folks stay as safe as possible when you get one, plus they don't just show hookups only they show right from the start including dropped fish. It was great that nearly 15 minutes of the programme was these boys trying to hook up on a marlin not just the throw the lure out and edit straight to the hook up.

Ha ha! True!!!!

Clap

Fished that same harbour a number of times in similar depths and had a great time. Try fishing that depth in Auckland Harbour and see how you get on

Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish caught will we realise we can't eat money.

They just give to much away...only beef with fishing shows.  Most people wouldn't bother fishing those area's.  Stop teaching the general population, show em what they already know.

Oh yeah who else heard milan say the F word tonight when he realised he had left his phone in his pocket. Cbro BAF would not be what it is if they rehashed the same stuff GT and co have already put out I avoid watching anything by GT but for my own reasons atleast milan and nathan make it exciting and show us different types of areas to fish and it was good to finally see a show where the guys actually get off the boat to fish landbased. I just wish there was a show dedicated to landbased fishing as well

What pouch lifejackets or are you being facetious as noticed altho they signed off recommending life jackets even if wading in the shallows that they themselves did not appear to be wearing them unless they were under their shirts.

Agree ...... was a great show & great to see something a bit different to the same old things on some of the other fishing shows.

Bazza.
Similar idea to the inflatable jackets we use now, where when you fall in the water, you pull the tab. the pouch ones you pull the pouch open pull over your head and then pull the cord, have tried them and they are easy to use once in the water. We were wearing them over top just small so you don't notice them.
Beachedasbro, it's just as good we did some test fishing last year, with good fish to 5 kilos.
Thanks Milan.

Dont know about wearing a life jacket id be opting for chain mail undies...I often jump out of the yak and fish those shallows but never in waist deep water with smelly stuff on my hook...too many bronzies have nabbed my fush for me to be doing that, yet alone the amount of rays there too... balls mate, balls....
