What are you targeting? For kingy's, 10k is all you need, marlin etc definately 18k

I have one of each, theres a reasonable difference in size between the two reels.

The 10000 being physically smaller is easier to throw around for long periods of time, I reckon I am also more  accurate with it in terms of targeting where  lures land.

The 18000 being heavier I find is less accurate, it however has better capacity, and  bigger drag surface area. Not much it wont stop......

I got an 18K since I mostly use it land based and wanted the bigger reel for stopping the kingfish taking my expensive lures to decorate the rocky reefs. Sometimes wish I had the lighter 10K as casting with the heavier reel for hours takes its toll, but you do get used to it. For boat fishing only for kings I'd get the 10K

Kaveman would have to throwing lures for kings is the job I want it for. Titahi & Aaron good on ya for your input pretty well pointed me in direction of the 10K as most of the use will out of boats targeting Kings.
Cheers you fellas appreciate your input. Pete

Thanks there laidback starting to think the 10 is the way to go. BUT seeing others talk about land based efforts has got me thinking it's a form of fishing I enjoy but only fished lbg for snapper. Either way might make the effort this season to throw a few land based popers around.
Chheeeers again fellas. Pete

Titahi  is right on the money!

However be aware that the Stella 10000 2008 models have an auto bail arm(this can be removed) where the Saltiga's don't.
I personally prefer the Saltiga's over the Stella's however this is personal preference as is all fishing gear there is no better reel/ rod.

Answer to your question Stella 10000 is more than sufficient no need for a 18000 unless you want to chase Big GT's or Big Tuna!
