Just want to know whats it like launching a 18 ft Seanymph at Otautu bay or near there ? Looks from the road as might be fairly shallow Thumbs Down for a fair way out ? Looks like a bit of a Ramp by the warf but might be private does anyone know?   People at the motorcamp say no problems.  I have a Terrano 4x4 and Tandem trailer but prefer to keep it out of the salt. Can anyone give any advise please.

High tide you'd have no worries. Have launched inflatable straight off the beach but I'm guessing you might struggle with an 18 ft and tandem unless you can borrow someone's tractor. Pretty shallow at ramp so would think you'd only have 2 or 3 hours either side of high tide if you want to keep your vehicle 100% dry

I launched there a month ago water goes along way out at low tide, was not a problem with a 4wd Surf the sand was quite hard did not even spin the wheels. If I was you just work the tides so there is plenty of water.

Will be ok but definitely no more than 2 hours either side of high , anymore and you need to navigate about 1 ft for about 100 m . Should also add there is a reef than runs about 100 metres south of the old wharf so avoid cutting the corner.
