Hey guys im planning on using some very small stickbaits in the gulf and was wondering what colours would go best. And do the floating or sinking so better? assuming that floating for calm weather and sinking for rougher weather options are silver, brown top/silver bottom, black, dark blue top/silver bottom, and bright yellow/green any help appreciated |

| Sweet will go with a pilly imitation. going a bit smaller than the star walkers. was looking at a 120mm 25g floating and 31g sinking model to use on my yeehaa 703 softbait rod for snaps and inshore rat kings for a bit of fun. what would be the second choice colour wise? |

I have been using some Tacklehouse Bezel lures lately, they are a sub surface stickbait, weighing in @ 36 gramms, they come rigged with some Owner ST66 #2 hooks and owner split rings. They are fantastic little lures that cast like a dream. They have an erratic action when worked with a twitch retrieve. So far they have snagged small GTS's coral trout and queenfish. They are indestructable, and after loosing 2 to unstoppable fish I went out and ordered another 4.
I think they are exactly what you are looking for, and kingfish and snapper as well as KY would be all over them.
Fishhead in Brisbane have em, although they are not listed on the website. you will need to drop em an e.mail to arrange them.

Cheers guys those rapala sub walk lures look amazing. the ones i ended up getting were from river to sea wil try them to see how they go on the rod. got the dark blue/silver and light brown/silver and went sub surface based on the recomendations wil let you know how i get on |

Gidday Kev, trust ya well? I havent tried either, but will kep an eye out for em. I have been flicking the Bezel on a PE 2-3 set up, I particularly like the small bib like profile on the Bezel as it keeps the lure sub surface. I have also been throwing some FCL labo SPP slim 80 stick baits which work well but need the hooks swaping out. The Duel Adagio 105 heavy is another in the small lure range thats swims well, I brought a couple to throw when the Northen bluefin tuna show up. Fisherman make a small 30g tail weighted popper (long pen 230 syaraku) that sinks, it can be worked like a stickbait, pulled hard to bloop or wound flat giving a nice bubble trail, Its through wired and when fish are on feeding on small baits is easy to switch them onto it. ------------- "I love standing by the ocean and just knowing what its for" |
