Yes it is indeed, we have prizes for the ten heaviest gurnard weighed and have $1000 for first prizes.  Tickets available from DKM in Waiuku from Monday for $30

I hate comps. like this, held on a Sunday. I have to have my son back from access close to the time posted for weigh in on a Sunday, so therefore we have no chance to enter. Bring on any comp that is friendly to fathers that have limited access that want to enter these sorts of things, with only Saturdays without restrictrive timings, there must be more people than me out there with the same problem.

Stuck Here I sympathise with your plight but it is a bugger trying to suit everyone. The Grunter Hunter is on a Sunday because of winter sports simple as that. My boys play football so I can't do the comp for a Saturday. Prizegiving will probably be over by 5.30, sorry if that is too late but if it was on Saturday I couldn't organise it or fish it.

No worries Smudge. Fully understand that not everyone can be accomadated. Big ups to you for the organising of evnts like this anyway. As per the pic I sent you of my young bloke with his big gurnard you can see he loves fishing for them, and out does a lot of regulars on the Kaipara with his catches of gurnard, he is almost a carrot whisperer like you and has caught several more nearly as big as the one in the photo. Cheers and one day we might strike it lucky and get a comp to enter that is on when I have him for school holidays.
