So now I know how to attach the leader I'm good to go, just need something to attach to the end of it. Where should I start, the choices seem a bit bewildering. What's a good starting point, or perhaps consider these questions; If something happened to your fishing tackle and you could only rescue two of your poppers/stickbaits which ones would they be? Which ones are still in your tackle box after looking so enticing in the shop, but have never got wet? |

what rod will you be using?
That'll determine more than anything whats appropiate to be tieing on, both weight of lure and style.
Next, whats your budget? and are you emotionally stable enough to have a kingi smash you off with $200 in its mouth, or would you feel more comfortable loosing $40?

| Low budget for now, maybe if I really get into,it I'll feel able to spend more. Rod is a fin nor 7050 and I also have an ugly stik black tiger, reel is fin nor 8500. |

you need to determine your lure weight range, it may say it on the rod itself, but you need to match your lure weights otherwise it can be like casting either bricks or feathers. Poppers suit stiffer rods, where as stickbaits are easier to swim with a softer tip.
Poppers have the ability to lure fish in a bit better, stickbaits tend to attract the bite a bit better.
On any given day this may or maynot apply.
good place to start would be a couple of Starwalker stickbaits and couple of Halco poppers or similar.

Shimano Ocea are good value for money well i think so anyone about $49 add some vmc hooks for about $9 for 3 and your away. |

judging by this, the Black tiger a decent popping rod. You could PM saffayakker to ask which ones work best

I've been trying to avoid this, but looks like a trip to Yeehaa is needed. Strarwalkers and Halco's seem the go, does anyone in NZ sell the Orions or do you need to order from France? |
