After trawling the fora and the Interweb, more confused than ever. Can someone enlighten me on a knotless mono to hollow braid join. specifically the 'serve.'
Can I use 8lb braid? Do I use glue? How do I do it?.

Looking to join JB 80 lb to mono for my new popper set [Van Stal GT and Fin Nor Biscayne FBS 80]

Hi CHarlie
Sorry I did not answer this question on my e mail reply, yes you can use 8lb braid as a whipping/serve, use your PR bobbin and spin it around over the hollow braid , same as you would to make a PR knot, with the mono leader up inside it, then glue over the top, I use the Jerry Brown glue which is a flexible type super glue, or again most often as a whipping I just use the dental waxed tape and do a row of tight half hitches over the braided splice, then glue over the top for protection, or a single pot urethane glue like PVC wader repair glue or similar, hope this is of help, cheers swordfishsteveSmile

Where abouts can you buy hollow braid in the 40-60lb range in auckland?

Hi HSVL
I have plenty of JB 80lb hollow braid, but did not bring in any 40lb or 60lb as it is near impossible to splice mono up inside it, IMHO ,cheers SwordfishsteveWink could try Yeehaa? not sure what Tony was stocking in this stuff.

Hsvl.. i can get some in for you. pm me if interested

agree with Steve 40lb hollow is VERY hard to splice, you need good tools and plenty of patience. For light lines i find the fg knot is brilliant, actually great on heavier lines tooLOL
