Not the ultimate but this works for me.

The board flips over to give a flat surface for filleting.

The whole unit lifts off when the ski pole is raised.

To me a good bait board would have a retainer at the back so that a knife wont slip out. Like the ridge in the custom board above but a little higher, that one looks like it is there to retain softbait containers. They could also go on the side. It would also have a removable cutting board. I saw a pic recently on fishing.net of a really wide bb, that looked pretty cool.

yeah i do mainly with the drink holders, the alternative is to use the railblazer equivalent that doesnt require drilling a 50mm hole in your bait board...

Sorry to resurrect an Old thread but I,m looking at having a new baitstation installed any recomedations for someone preferably in Auckland that makes them up.
Flyfisher if you read this can you take some photo,s of your one as that looks about perfect .
I like the idea at the beginning of this thread to be able to flip the board over for filleting, where can i get one of those Boards?

I got an alloy one made by Aaron at http://www.nautechmarine.co.nz/aluminium-bait-stations.html" rel="nofollow - Nautech Marine in NW Auckland. Not a flippy one, but similar to the Surtees-style and he'll modify it as you like (I got a couple of extra rod holders). Very happy with mine and the price was reasonable.

He may even be able to make you a flip-over one, I dunno. Give him a call.

Sry cant put up picks at the moment.. thu nothing flash
Currently building a custom 54L live bait tank around the ski pole the bait board sits in...also adding a shelf below the bait board for sinkers and stuff.
Dont have rod holders around the board.... if there is a rod sitting there , and its temping to do so, they are in the way if boat swings , if hit a good kingie or KY... or droppingf a long line
We do have a rod holder in the motor well each side....pull your line in, dont wind fully up, drop the end over the rod in the holder down in the wheel well and makes cleaning baiting , fixing traces etc real easy.
Bloody bait boards have a lip in the front which makes filleting awkward....so screw from underneath a bit of ply thick enough to be just under the ledge...and a gap at the rear about 1" to 1 1/2 " wide .. this cutting board is easy replaced, makes filleting easy.
A  small filleting knife (for bait fish) and 2 solid bait knifes attached to the rear by mounting the scabards ... a square hole in on rear cnr that a set of long nosed pilers fit into... this also is a good sized drain hole when washing down.

Planned are draws under the bait board to hold sinkers, hooks traces , etc

But for now, need to finish off the live bait tank before the good weather coming up at the end of the week.

I used to have the same commercially made station as "Famllyaffair"
I put a couple of "nicks" in the nylon tray so that I could turn it over and have a flat filleting station. The downside used to be, that the lip on it, made it difficult to skin the fish !
The added advantage that I had .......... took away the Nylon board and I had the perfect mount to place my BBQ on. Very safe ~ the stainless rails enclosed the BBQ with absolutely no chance of it sliding around.
It was co-incidental that my existing BBQ fitted in the hole ~ but I am sure it would not be impossible to find one that fitted. Brings a whole new meaning to the words "fresh fish"
