G'day fella's

I'm looking for an alternative supplier to the Black Magic Series A fly tying hooks in the same shape as depicted below. I'm not interested in alternative shaped hooks.
They are for a specific pattern I am looking at tying.

These particular hooks from Black Magic are made in Japan, but I'm not sure by which company.

Anybody know who makes them?

I think these could be classified as Limerick and/or Sproat bend if I'm not mistaken.

Want them in 2 or 3 extra heavy.

Any advice much appreciated.

Really good mate.
Pretty much all done for the trip.

Just hope there's enough given some of my mates I fish with.
Most of their fish live in trees, bushes and grasses.LOL

My understanding is that Daiichi in Japan make Daichi hooks (for US), Kamasan (Europe and elsewhere) and Black Magic (Australasia). I've never been able to verify this, but I would say that some of the Black Magic hooks are very similar to Kamasans.

Familiar with the Kamasans Kev- thanks mate.

Man, these hooks are just different enough to not quite fit any of the major brands I'm familiar with. Slight variances- Little bit heavier and the bend is a bit different.

That picture I put up in the initial post shows a bit of what I'm talking about.

I've sort of adapted my patterns, but would still love to know the source and cut out Black Magic.
Used the TMC 3769's as Jack suggested.
Not bad an alternative.

Cheers mate

Mate, I'll have a look into these when I get back.

Not familiar with these numbers off the top of my head.
Are they old hooks? Still in production?

Bit stressed for time at the mo.......
Thanks for the input/idea though.

Definitely follow it up when I return.

The hook you posted Jaapie is very similar to the original Mustad 3666. I doubt it's still in production but may be... MOst stopped using it about 20 years ago. TMC had an equivalent, the only difference being it was jappaned instead of bronzed (Black)

That type of bend is known as a Limerick bend... I just checked. the TMC (Tiemco) 700 is still made though I am uncertain if it is available here. I will make some inquiries and see what I can find. What sizes are you after?

Uncle Bill,

Thank you mate for the very kind gesture.

I will need to have a look a bit further into those hooks before I accept, but I do really appreciate the very kind offer you have put forward.

I am like a headless chook just at the moment trying to get the last bits squared away before tomorrow's take off at sparrows fart.
Please let me get back to you once I am back -

Thanks Clarke for the feedback-
Give me a buzz when you're down and if we can hook up all good!

Ok fella's
Peace Out
