| Caranx kaibatsu, 8406 model will do both. Very nice rod, the guy on TM is selling both this and the heavier one or $499 new, which is a bargain. |

From those I would probably go the Shimano personally. But if you want to be doing stick baiting as well as poppers bend them both in the shop and see which one has the softer tip and more medium/slower action and choose that one, as that will be a better stickbait rod. They will still pop most poppers apart from the big muthas, which you probably wont use much anyway unless chasing GT's. ------------- I always tell the truth about things that never happened |

ill be after gts sid, mostly landbased too but going on a charter too so theres a heap of different options, hoping to have a crack at a yfin on a stickbait too but we'll see.

I would go with the Kaibutsu Long Cast. I have one and it works great. At the risk of being ridiculed, I really don't see a huge need for 2 separate rods for popping and stickbaiting. I have never had a problem getting fish with a stickbait on a popper rod, but I have had problems working poppers with a soft tipped rod. ------------- Tis better to have hooked and lost than never to have hooked at all. |

| Daiwa Demon Blood PE5-6 awesome rod work stickbaits well and is great on poppers.I bought a new one for $300 which is a hell of a bargain.Mostly target GT on poppers but giong for yft very soon. |

Agree with Wanabe, I'd choose an Offshore Illusion over a Caranax. Great 100% carbon CTS NZ made blanks, NZ built rod, cheaper and better IMHO. ------------- 6th place in the inaugural Te Kauwhata Regionals paddle crab division |

Pretty cheap considering all stated, cheaper than the caranax quoted above. Sure you may get good deal through your work on mass produced factory rods, but look at what you get for cheaper. Those CTS blanks are the goods. Milan sure gave some good demos of what those demon bloods can deal to on his 'Big angry Fish' tv series. Picked one up the other day, no fuss from Trademe dude, $499. He also did a good deal on Stella.. http://www.trademe.co.nz/sports/fishing/salt-water/boat-rods/auction-497016148.htm (note, thats the popper one, he's got the stick bait one too).. It's now waiting to be thrashed :-)
