After a few suggestions on a suitable popping rod to match with my Stella 10000SW.

I have an Offshore Illusion which has been great for stickbaits but lacks grunt to get the bigger
faced poppers like Nomad Cubera 150's and Labo Extremes really performing when cast any distance.

Primary use will be for chasing midsize GT's with 80-100lb and poppers 120-180g.

No real budget constraints... within reason!
Cheers

Smith 80p/35

How about this, good deal, I like mine, first rod I will pack when I go to the islands. Strong as, casts awesome, mid range bendiness so good for those 150gm ish lures.

great post - about to buy a Stella 10000 and looking at rod options at the moment. have you considered the T-Curve Revolution Stickbait rod?

By and large the reporting is factual, but in a few instances I have claimed the right of readjusting the facts to which every angler is entitled.

i think you will find that a little bit to soft for cup faced poppers like the cubera 150!

You could just get the heavier version of the Offshore Illusion to use for poppers. As far as price goes, those CTS blanks that Leon builds on are pretty hard to beat.

Have you looked at the Ripple Fisher range?, the GT82  http://www.nomadtackle.ashop.com.au/p/978577/ripple-fisher---gt82-long-cast.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.nomadtackle.ashop.com.au/p/978577/ripple-fisher---gt82-long-cast.html  or the GT78 extra heavy  http://www.nomadtackle.ashop.com.au/p/978734/ripple-fisher---gt78-extra-heavy-.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.nomadtackle.ashop.com.au/p/978734/ripple-fisher---gt78-extra-heavy-.html  will do the job, I have used the GT78 extra heavy and it is such a nice rod to work lures in the 130 to 180gm range and is so nice on the angler when hooked up with loads of power.

if budget aint the issue only way to go is the high end japanese stuff, forget the mid-range shimano stuff (no offense intended) if you can afford the good stuff then get it, they REALLY are that much better.

I fished last season in Oman with a CTS 50lb Popper Pro (8') built by Kieron, its an awesome blank especially for poppers/sticks in the 100-160gm range...just having an 80lb built to use this season to throw some of the heavier lures..200gm +
