I am looking for a smallish light weight set that would best suit easy casting and retrieving for long periods of time...Would the Stella10000sw be my best option?  If so.... what would be my best rod option and lure weight to match with it?

And if not??

Yep, Stella SW10k or New Saltiga 5000H would be perfect.

I have a stella 10k/smith gtk 77 rod set up that I am using and really enjoying and recently had the TAS urge to purchase a daiwa saltiga 4000h/smith gtk 74 in the quest to find a lighter set up. This combo is brilliant and punches way above its weight, Im fishing stick baits up to 110(60-90 best) and poppers up to 90(65-85 best). I can work down to 40-50 if necessary. I guess it will depend on how light you want to go, I can work this thing all day long and no fatigue. Hope this may help with some ideas.

Im after something with some grunt but not to heavy. So it's either Stella or salty?? 4000h be a good comparison??

The 8,000 and 10,000 can both use the same spool....so you could get an 8,000 and get a 10,000 spare spool for it....Plenty of grunt too.

Would I have to buy the larger spool for 8000 or choose? Apart from the size of the spool and line capacity what is the benefit of doing so??

I went for the 4000h because I found the stella 10k/8k (both are same physical size basically just a few grams in it) to big for my lighter set and the stella 5k just wasnt big enough for me, It felt a little under powered in hand compared to the 4000h, I have nailed some great fish on this rig. But it is my smaller rig and I have a bigger gun rigged and on hand if needed. The 4000h feels exactly in the middle of the stella 5k-10k/8k, It has no shortage of grunt and with the drag cranked up it will fold up the gtk. Depending on wether you are planning to have one outfit or more (surface fishing is fatally addictive) maybe the stella 8k/10k matched up with the correct rod might be more of a middle weight rig and you can fish it either up or down depending on the targets, having two spools for the one combo is great pe4/pe6 for example.
I take both of these combos out each surface fishing trip so can give you an honest impression of both. Hope this helps in some way.

Stella SW10000 is comparable in size to the New Saltiga 5000H.

Its just choice Reece...the 10,000 spool will offer you more capacity thats all....the 8,000 and 10,000 body are pretty similar....high gear 5.7 to 1 for pops and sticks.

The line retrieve is much better on the 10 due to the spool being bigger ,for me the 8 is no more than a light jigging reel.

Hey Reece I would with for a Smith GTK- 77SJH they are awesome rods! You can throw stickbaits up to 110g with this stick.

Talk to Boulder or Sidfishus they have both been usuing one for the past year and match it to a Diawa Saltiga 4500H if you want to run PE5.

The 4500H and 5000H spools are interchangeable anyway.

If you want to run PE6 go for the Diawa Saltiga 5000H
