Has anyone fished around this part of fiji in October? Just wondering what the sea conditions and available species will be?

Can you hire boats (self drive)?

Cheers!

They have yellowfin marlin wahoo baracouta skip jack tuna coral trout etc but i though the fishing bit average and the gear in very average condition. some reels wouldnt work properly so take own gear if can. Not sure on self drive but plenty of charters. dont go on the cheapest ones. they generally dont know what they are doing

I will be taking a heavy softbait setup and maybe a trolling/jigging combo, would love to rent a boat with a mate or two and flick softbaits into the wash etc. Sounds like most of the charters are trolling only?

Yeh think you would have the right combos. the light softbait combo will get smoked for sure. . was with some australians and they reakon in the shalows off some of the islands they were getting smoked on softies. mostly trolling along current lines from the charters. Some do bottom bashing too but nothing to get excited about. The baracouta can be eaten there. no worms. and take ice on the boat. they dont even ice the fish even when its 30 degrees outside. and no bleeding either. just a wacky on the head if ya lucky
