Nature Boys all the way, had a cheaper tube the end got snapped off first time I traveled with it, nature Boys tube is bullet proof, traveled heaps with it and still looks mint as. I have looked at everything on the market and I feel it is the best hands down. You can stack a lot of rods in it as well. I got mine from Kilsong in the US, not sure if they have them in NZ.

nature boys ones are very nice and can hold more rods but I felt too heavy for me and also Mr. Mogi told me that in the long run the nature boys carry case uses recycle plastic it reacts with uv light, it will crack.
Carmate is the one or I like bozuka if you have lots of rod to carry like Mr. Konishi Big smile

Here is some good info to look at:
http://www.360tuna.com/forum/f76/nature-boys-vs-car-mate-rod-case-7999/
Both great tubes, if ya got the money buy the best you can, it sucks arriving with broken rods also spending $100 on a cheap tube and it breaks first trip, Carmate or nature boys both good investments.
Re the UV comment, only an issue if your going to store your rods outside in the tube? my tube only sees daylight when going from boat to airport or airport to boat so can not comment if thats an issue.

agree
the UV issue only apply to Mr. Mogi and those people who travel all the time. Very nice tube and my best friend uses Nature Boys tube as well. They are the best two rod tube on the market.
Nature boys- stronger, hold more rods but heavier (I fitted 10 rods)
Carmate - much lighter, little weaker than nauture boys holds less rods (7-8 rods)

Thanks for that, I'll have a look and see what it is available in NZ...

Seems I'll need another 6-7 rods to fill it up too....LOL

Sam - I might be a bit late, but check out Sportube cases.... http://www.sportube.com - www.sportube.com

I use the Series 1 Ski tube( http://www.sportube.com/pages/skis_one_pair.php - http://www.sportube.com/pages/skis_one_pair.php )... ALOT cheaper than the Carmate and Nature Boys cases, and pretty damn indestructable... I fit 13 rods into mine on my Bassas trip.... simple design, and I believe they are available in NZ... ( check the "Find a Dealer" Page, the NZ distibutor is on there )

I've very nearly pulled the trigger on a Carmate a few times, but shipping to SOuth Africa is ridiculous, so waited.... then found the Sportube case... They are designed for Water Skis/Snow Skis, so should be more readily available... Apparently used by Mogi as well.... If you clever with the way you pack your rods, getting 12 rods into one of these cases is easy....

I usually pack 6 to 10 rods, and then wrap them in T-Shorts/Sun SHirts, and any other clothing to form a tight package inside the tube... Great cases, mines served me well

I have one of those Ski tubes as well, It fits everything I travel with including my speargun. Really pleased with it and I got it super cheap in a sale in New York. I have had home made and Bazooka tubes crushed when travelling before

Use one of those ski tubes aswell. It is branded as a KIS rod case & is proving indestructable. Is about 15 years old now & still going strong, just sports a few battle scars now thanks to Air Vanuatu!
