I have been looking for the feathers to tie kilwell number 1 and 2's. What are the best feathers for these flies and who sells them? cheers

dunno much about fly tying but what sort of feathers you after?

The "best" feathers are of course the originals as tied by Frank Lord.
The K1 uses striped brown partridge feathers.
The K2 uses mottled grouse plumage.

Cheeko, any good sports shop that specialises in trout fishing will have suitable feathers~~or shouldBig smile

thanks Uncle, will go for a nosey today. The one shop I looked at yesterday didnt have anything suitable.  Cheers
