No. We just dived up and down and kept doing it for 6 hours. The first year mjl and I did use burley and it did work..... but I'm not convinced.
On thursday just been I asked TSW if he and I could go steady again this year ............................and he said 'yes'HeartHug. Being competent with a pointy stick is what will make the difference this year now that the pattern of where they reside has started to be solved by several pairs IMNSHO

Cool cheers DD im defo in had to abort RQ trip in Feb for wedding so missus knows to hold her tounge in regards to this.

Pending Ohh Konas interest Im there.  If not im still keen just will need a partner.

Also serious question? what kind of temp is Taupo at that time of year and how much weight can you drop off for fresh water?  Or is it just play it as it comes.  Thinking of busting out my 3mm would it be to cold for this in taupo (im rather well insulated)

Depends on whether we get a summer! I reckon 3/5mm comb. You can usually drop at least a kilo - if not two

I've got to be home Saturday night, so if I make it I'll be driving home in the arvo.

Fresh water is ~1.5kg and surface temp should be ~20 degrees. 3/5 should be fine, potentally 3/3 if you're a keen bean.

Posted By: Gundry
Date Posted: 10 Jan 2012 at 2:03pm
Cheers Azazel.  20degrees is plenty warm enough for me and a 3mm.  Depending on bottom times and depth I dive maybe the 5/3m combo is the smart option still.  Defo keen on the idea of dropping some weight of belt.  Now if only I could drop it off my belly that would be really neat.

hey  do we need to have a dive flag on our float/plat?

Posted By: TheSnapperWhisperer
Date Posted: 18 Jan 2012 at 8:36am
Of course you do.  Whether you are diving in an organised competition or just casually, you should always tow a dive flag on your float.  It is even more important in a lake where people using boats are not used to seeing divers.

Personally, I think it's about time dive shops took the responsible step of refusing to sell floats without flags.

what about making everyone with a boat read the rules and at the same time learn what a diveflag looks like..Thumbs Up

That should be the simplest thing to ask for, now that there are no requirement for obtaining a boat license...

heck.. maybe there should just be a license for having a boat :-)

Assuming the same area as last time, it's the South side. Basically Kuratau to Motutere Point, excepting Waihi bay and any river mouths.

If anyone is heading down from Auckland and has a spare seat and or needs a boyfriend I could be keen. My car blew up and I have no one to hold my hand. I was there last year and have some serious inside knowledge on how to slay the water pussies, as was proven by six hours swimming for a total of three cats. Pretty good strike rate if you ask me (pretty sure if you could convert every two hours in a club you'd be happy)
