Angry
Woke up this morning to find my Boat has been stolen.  It has been taken from my driveway between Midnight and 6am this morning.

Not impressed at all dont have insurance so was an exspensive lesson there.  I will be putting pics up soon if anyone sees or hears anything would really appreciate it.

Its a Green 13 foot Fiberglass/wood.  Pretty sure people at the time said it looked like a Marlboro Dart.  It has a 25 yamaha on the back.

Pics to come soon.

That sux man, I hope you get it back in one piece, the trailer looks pretty mint.

Boat insurance is is pretty cheap, mines  just 1% of the sum insured P.A, I hope anyone else who doesn't insurance would consider it, Mainly for accident damage while on the road, someone crashing into you would be the most likely.

Gutted to hear about this Gundry.
Keep an eye out for the hull and if you see thing similar dont let a different color or different motor distract you from looking closer. They will prolly repaint it and swap engines with another nicked boat.

Andrew, I believe Wha North may be refering to your gunnel topsides and asking if they are wood? My understanding of coaming is the lip on the edge of the topside that stops water running into the cockpit (like some old canoes and kayaks have, normally forward).

I have one of my boats stolen fom my drive so know how it feels and how you keep looking! And mine was only 1 of about 100 made at the time.

Defo going to be keeping my eyes open I work out south so can keep my eyes open down this end as well as back on teh shore where I live.  Worst part by far was getting it in the ear from the missus to be honest .   Pretty gutted though I must admit have only been out on it about 6 times and was slowly getting it better and better and then BOOM gone.  I understand now how others feel when this happens to them.  Defo taking anything worht anything out of my car form now on.

That sucks dude :( I will keep my eyes open - I am constantly worried about my boat being nicked from our driveway - Im seriously considering a wheel clamp on the trailer....

Sorry to hear this Gundry!!

JackDalton - wheel clamps are a must IMO.

Best to get one that covers the entire wheel hub also. The police advised me the 'U' clamps are more easily defeated, either by cutting or swapping wheels.

After my boat got pinched (and recovered, mostly) I invested in a coupling lock, hub cover clamp and a security camera mounted 3.5 meters up with night vision.

Any really determined thief can still take it of course but I've gone for max deterrent so they choose someone elses gear.

Don't lose hope too soon either Gundry, get a report into the police and it may well be recovered. I have heard of guys getting boat/dive gear back months after it was nicked. Often the *****s get caught doing another job which leads the cops to other gear.

sorry to here gundry. ill keep an eye out down here. all the boats going up the west coast of coro peninsula go past work. pretty recognisable hull.
had mine pinched a couple years ago got it back 6 weeks after it was stolen

Real sorry to hear that gundry, sounds like there might be a good chance that they will catch these guys as it is a very recognisable boat. So meanspirited there must really be some real *****s out there eh, I can't imagine what it would be like to have your boat pinched, it looked like a real perler.

(Interesting to SF916's comments above too - cameras seem like the way to go but what has the world come to when you have to do that eh, will bear in mind for future).

Cheers guys good to hear some guys are getting there Boats back. I had a wheel clamp one of the U shped one and yeah was defeather pretty easy.  Guy down road has boat in driveway easier to steal than mine but he has the full wheel clamp that coverss entire HUB.  So yeah would reccomend a better on to any one out there. and JackDalton I would get one mate they had to slither like ae snake around parked cars which im amazed didnt get scratched to buggery. so yeah ill be super secure next boat if and when that ever is or Karma willing I get my one back.

Camera 2 has a %50 chance of seeing the boat. Worth a call to NHB. they are doing a big push on crime at the moment. The last NHB meeting had the Police commissioner talking.

+1 for keeping an eye out. That sucks dude!

My house got broken into earlier this year, and although insured, all of my photos, documents, and recordings went bye bye. Was just about to back them up onto external hard drive too.

Thought this boat might have been yours gundry since it had undergone a recent paint job, but I don't think it is.  Too many inconsistencies.  Scroll down the page a bit.

Cheers mate yeah similar defo think its that type of boat the canopy would be very easy to remove and I guess they would swap the engine onto a different boat to make it even less recognizable.

Cheers again people you all a bunch of Good Fellows

Thanks very much to Keribboi for the suggestion and all hte othe good guys on here.

I would like to give the team at http://www.nhba.org.nz/ - http://www.nhba.org.nz/ a huge thank.

This from David Wright who I contacted regarding the camera in the area.

Hi Andrew.

I have spent a couple of hours looking at the 5 operational traffic cameras in our area.

Given the wide time frame I have had to scan the cameras because they take still images every second, so as you can imagine its quite a task.

Unfortunately I couldn’t see anything at all resembling a boat on a trailer, covered or otherwise.

I am sorry I couldn’t have been more help.

Best of luck and I hope this has a happy ending.

I would just like to thank him very much for his time as I realise I have nothing to do with business on the shore anymore and this was a personal thing.  So glad to see so many good sorts out there willingto help whilst nothign came of it I would still however jsut like to say thanks to you all.
