Better to go for the Offshore Illusion

Hi fish 1
I assume from that you you have used and liked the illusion range from offshore?

Yes and yes, they are wicked CTS blanks- like a soft bait rod on roids. Those Landbase sticks would be killer from a boat. I have used my Illusions both boat and land.

Pretty sure this is the same rod i have, would be pretty heavy for throwing poppers around all day, built like a brick sht house though, i use mine for 15kg+ straylining, originally brought it as a popper rod but then brought something lighter. Buy something that is designed for popper throwing or even jigging plenty of reasonably priced rods out there....

Yep the length and size of the rod would be prohibitive for using it off the boat....

I am not sure which rod you are referring too, but the Offshore Illusion popper 24-37kg rod is built on a CTS blank and is very light-weight, at 8 foot long I find it not to bad from boats, and have used it for the last 2 years, throwing poppers and stickbaits, and with a 10000 size reel  can be cast all day IMO

I got offered a 2nd hand T curve blue water spin today so ended buying that. It was a good price so will get me started. No doubt will end up upgrading at some stage :)

if you want a starter they are the ducks nuts the other Offshore Illusion popper 24-37kg rod is around $500-00 to buy new so the 890 is a good option and if you do not have one they should be about 150-200
