When out to Moturoa Island on Sunday morning at 6:00 when we got to Kaimaumau it was foggy as dunked the boat and set the chart plotter up to take us out of the harbour. Once we past the red marker at Rangiputa the fog lifted in seconds to reveal a flat sea sunny sky heaven. Gunned the boat out to Moturoa and anchored up in 35 foot of water and burley over the side of the boat by 6:25.

What a morning Big smile Prefect!!

First fish took about 5 mins on a 2 meter leader ledger rig using squid. Fish On lol though it was a good Snap for the first few minutes but it quickly turned into a 10kg Kingfish which amazed me as it was on dead bait again I must be lucky LOL

Fishing was non stop for 4 hours after that but alot of snapper under 35cms and parrot fish maumau, small trev's

All the snapper in the picture above are over 35cm boat rules Big smile
Dylan caught the biggest snapper of the day.

This Snappa looked a bit weird look at the pec's and lips of the fish. is it a snappa?

Sorry about the pics not the best but its hard to take pics when things are going good....

We had a great day on the water while the fishing was going good a pod of dolphins of maybe 50 or so strong cruised by all Dusky's. After the fishing died off in the spot we were in we decided to drift deeper water with SB's which didn't produce fish for us but who would complain LOL We found our self's in 100 foot of water drifting near a shallow which comes up to 16 foot we spotted a large patch of nervous water which turned out to be see through shrimpy things. As we drifted near by we were stunned to see what looked like tuna of some sort skipping around this patch really fast. As the drifting was not working for us we decided to try for these tuna and trolled hard bait lures Rapala's but they were not interested in what we had to offer so after two coutta's I wanted to stop for fear of loosing the lures. I noted that they had these see through shrimpy things in there mouths when I was taking out the lures. What are these called as I have never seen them before?
So we stopped trolling and gave drifting a go and spun lures at the tuna when they came close but we still never caught any. About 15 mins after the tuna disappeared a big shark cruised through the same area Mako maybe but it was so impressive as it was so flat and the dorsal and tail were out of the water and a few feet apart to. Bit of a JAWS moment as everyone went quite when she was spotted. But no one went for the camera but I don't mind its a memory now and some of the best moments are just that "Memories"

Really enjoying NZ, Luv it........
