Wasn't sure whether to put this in the topwater section or the newbies section
I have a caranx 2 piece stick bait rod and I don't want to break the effin thing putting the long half into the butt section.
It seems to be like 1cm not in enough and I don't wanna use the eyes to push it in and I just yeh, any ideas? I want to use it on saturday! Thx

As long as its not loose I wouldnt worry about it. From memory the Caranx ferrule is supposed to be that way anyway

Word of warning would be to ensure the use of Wax... if you have jammed it in tight you will never get lose again.

Ahaha yea getting it out again, that will be necessary!
What sort of wax? Do I melt a candle or use my surfboard wax or Dax wax? The possibilities are endless :0

Bro 1cm might be to much!

Never twist while bring the two pieces together. As hookerpuka suggested if you jam it into tight it can be near impossible to get out.

Just push the pieces together about half in. Twist the top piece  (don't push/pull) to get the guides lined up perfectly.

Then put the gimbal knock on the ground and then med-firmly push the top piece in.......sorted

You don't need wax, inox is fine. Or get this stuff called dry glide as you don't have to keep applying it.

Primo man thanks. Yea I don't think I've f***ed it yet haha but probably would've if I hadn't asked!
Appreciate the help, I'll inox it and push it on as far as feels good...
Will let you all know if I catch something tomorrow, hoping for some beginners luck

Marx has the good advice. Don't do what I did with my Carpenter BLC rod and jam the halves together so hard that I had to take it into Yeehaa where John kindly separated for me after treating with cold ice packs on the join for 10 mins.Embarrassed

Inox doesn't do the job of wax Marx... not even close. you can buy wax for next to nothing, cheaper than Inox and its designed for the job.

Yes normal candles will work but if your fishing in very hot conditions it can get messy.

Works for me mate, suggested it thinking he would probably already have it and if he doesn't its a good thing to have.

Wax sounds like a good option all the same.

Rub it on the scuzz from behind your ear, side of nose or hair - depends how scuzzy you are, no doubt you'll have a scuzzy mate close by.

My Kilwell surfcaster came with Rod wax for the joints.

Ok I used normal candle wax and it was still a b*arch to get apart. Having said that, it did come apart. Hopefully like most things it'll loosen after a few insertions?
I bought some dry glide this morning, it claims to have Teflon in it...so might spray it on my pans too.

Graphite powder works well too.

They are made to allow for wear ,as in it wont go all the way in when new but in a couple of years of putting it together and pulling it apart it will ,so a little gap from new is meant to be.
Much like a good Chic.

Car wax,  works in the tropics.  I have 2 of those rods and have no problem getting them in or out.

Just get it wet and ram it in and destroy it for every one else.

Hahaha this really got out of hand quickly.
The dry glide experiment is currently underway and if that fails I'll go with car wax.
I think I...um....got an extra tight one.

Man, they make them like that on purpose they are not supposed to fit flushly together. You will do more damage forcing it together. They are designed to have a small taper to allow for wear so it will never be  a sloppy join. Just put some candle wax on.
