Haven't posted any lure builds lately but with my latest batch in the drying cupboard I can introduce
Marx: Inception
I had originally named them concept but someone on 360T has already claimed it. I'm open to name suggestions, not completely sold on inception.... the other name had was rush
All those name have been chosen to suit these latest lures.
I’ve developed what I believe is a new concept for stickbaits (happy to
be told otherwise if its been done before)
You'll see in the photos a hole in the top of their head and holes on
the side. When lure is worked water flows into top of head pushing air
bubbles out through side holes. When lure surfaces on pause the water
drains out through side holes and then repeat!
So basically the designs effect is a stick bait with a quick and wide
reaching action and a bubble trail that comes from inside the lure and
out through the gill plate area mimicking distressed escaping baitfish.
I’ve made some variations in the lures but they are all 180mm and around
70g of weight.
I'll add some video of them in action soon but for now they are still drying
Unfortunately what I don’t have the painting skill to match my
imagination. I was hoping to really blend in the reflective tape but you
can still see the sides. I was going to do scale patterns as well but
ran out of patience.
Still I’m happy with the result. Haven’t given them a swim since doing
so bare but if the paint and clear coat hasn’t drastically altered the
action I’ll have to sheepishly self appreciate and say I’ve made some
bloody good lures.
Okay chopper is a lure I made about 2months ago, its almost centre weighted and has a mouth. Caught a rat king on it when fishing last. I've just re-cleared it but didn't fix it up, hadn't taken photos before using it.
I've put UV coating on all the eyes for extra effect.
Can't wait to give them some action

I've just joined 360T and made a lengthy into explaining my method and lures I've built. I copy and pasted a bit from that thread.

Cheers boys told myself not to bother posting lure builds until the lures have caught fish...... thats when you know they work.
But I've put a lot into these and I'm totally stoked how they have turned out. Had to share.

So this is the product of your being locked in the lab and overdosing on all dose fumes. Originarly bro! Conceptualizations from Be Yon Der. Can't wait to see them swimming. Cheur. Not pretty but fully Fuu Nahhh! keep pushing that envelope.

This is what I have been waiting for... Finally Marx
Too much dude, the baits look the goods and knowing your style will work too. I see you have figured out the physics side with your bait's shape.
Still need to do some final testing on my bait's, when done I will swap you one.

Here it is boys! Don't hit your head on the screen because you want to eat it
This the first of four, hopefully have the rest done today. Lighting is a little difficult but you should pick it up okay, let me know if you think its worthwhile getting some better footage.
I'm sticking to the name Inception and this is Jack Mac. Best to watch on full screen mode, to do that go to link instead of watching embedded video.

Think its possible to get even more out of them. Considering I've only got 10m of line out and each lure has its own subtle differences and respond better to different rod speeds.
So they could perform even better once I've refined my technique.

Yeh mate, thought you'd like this one. When you were explaining to me why you didn't like the last lot I knew exactly what you meant and I totally agree.

Cheers Sam did you think that because of the friction created by the holes in the head? My theory is that friction on the head is a good thing so the water grabs onto it. The head of the lure is always going to travel as smoothly as your rod movement.
As for the tail I reckon no friction is a must if you want the back to slide around loosely. Just a theory though.
Hope to be field testing around Tutukaka sometime shortly after Aug 6th.
Might have to cheat and anchor up, then burley something chronic to bring the few kings that are around closer to me.

They look sweet marx
Be very interesting to see if putting hooks on them kills a bit of that lovelly wiggle.
Cant wait to see some more testing footage.

What you see is the lure swimming completely rigged mate.
2/0 Owners (the chunky ones) and 200lb Varivas split.
Stickbaits won't even swim without the hooks, especially the belly hook as it provides the balance and some resistance needed to stop the lure spinning.

Sorry - I assumed that because it had no hooks in the close up at the beginning of the video, that is how they were tested. That being the case - very sexy indeed

The holes would more than likely create a vacuum...The tail follows the head, you have created a fulcrum point in the tail by adding ballast... Will send you a PM so I don't put every one to sleep reading this lure jumbo

Fair enough its definitely not for every one
I just tried to take some more footage as the other lures are hard to pick up, only to find my camera has started s**ting itself, where the bottom quater of pixels are now dead and fuzzy.... its a canon SX10 too
Might not get any more vids up for a while but in terms of that latest bunch I think the jack mac has the most extreme action (and therefore prob most appealing to us humans ) and the action gets progressively tighter but only slightly through, Blue(pilchard), Squid(pink) and Black(Kahawai).
Think I know why and in terms of field testing it should be a good thing. The lures we think have the best action might be different to what fish think and in this case I'd take the fishes opinion any day

No apology needed mate, can see how you made the assumption but in reality I just didn't want to get hooked
Glad you like it and much appreciated
