Hey Chris, very nice and certainly well priced... can't wait to see some...
On another note, are you doing anything in the way of stick bait rods?

Nice one! Like the pricing, length, weight and colours Chris, anyone would think you were deliberately getting a stick bait for kiwi fishos targeting kings.
Rather than one really suited to tropical fish we don't see much of in our waters!

WHAT!!
You mean the rest of the world don't have kahawai and kohuru as we do? .
Yeah, we have the technology to produce lures that kiwi fish dine on. JSA are happy to have these since they are very fishy flavours which will produce well in their waters. Very happy with how these have turned out.

I have had the misfortune of being bitten by a marlin ( I know I know, what an idiot, but in my defense I really wanted my sons home made trolling lure back!!! It FN hurt ) And they are capable of squashing lots of things stronger than fingers. The lure I caught the marlin on is only slightly grazed, the paint job held up very very well and Chris still has the lure which despite the marlins best efforts did not break. These lures are very strong, and well built, they swim well........oh and fish dont mind eating em as well

Very nice, they look the goods
Are they the same as the Tailwalk Gunz range? If so, they go great- very easy to swim and definitely attract plenty of hits

Beaut lures. I loved the blue/black/white one, and the pinkie....

 Not big fish sadly.... but the big fish that nailed the bluey later, kept it dammit! Very good lures, good for a long sweeping action.
Edit:- the pinkie I had there is the floating version, which was great, being hot pink I was able to see just where the lure was, made it a bit more fun I reckon. I had I think 3 casts with the blue/black/silver jobbie, first cast nuthin', second cast the little GT, third cast a huge white hole in the ocean and a long unstopable run around a bommie, bugger it! After that I was way more circumspect about using the pinkie, it still survives up there awaiting my return in January. It was good to have them along though, in combination with the R2C doggies I also used, as Chris's lures here I found worked really nicely in a long, sweeping action that got the lure in pretty quick, and the doggies I found were only to be used with a slow, short action. Meant you had a range of lures and actions to use on the fish. The lures are very nicely solid I found, the pinkie got..... I tihnk about 5-6 fish all told, without any major damage to the paintwork or anything either, which was pleasing. I certainly want to take a few more of those with me next time I head off!

I saw the koheru, and just pounced on it, it is plain sexy i reckon. The same with the pink. Might grab the kahawai one too, and the blue-pink, well, it is starting ot talk to me as well. So many lures, so little time to play with them! sighhhhhhh...

160 = 2/0 treble
180 = 3/0 treble
no, did not state treble hook sizes. Anglers have their own opinions as to what works best for their technique.

Good on you Chris for putting out some very affordable stickbaits for the NZ fisherman. Awesome range of colours and models well suited to NZ kings. Guess you can't really complain about others ripping off lure designs now.

When have I complained about lure rip offs? Nobody seems to be slightly bit concerned for intellectual property these days and that is well supported by the customers who flock to buy.
I buy the Starwalker from the ORIGINAL manufacturer and I believe it is their original design, therefore no rip off.

All i know is they are very very nice lures. Chris, the floating pinkie I had was a smaller one, will you be doing the floating ones in that larger size (same as the larger sinking one) as well?

Yes, the floating lures will be in the larger size.
There are 2 sizes - 160mm and 180mm.
There are floating and sinking versions in both these sizes.

was thinking of rigging the 180s like this with 8/0 shogun hooks....Your thoughts chris? or do you suggest trebles?Has anyone fished them like this?Build quality looks really good and personally i prefer plastic type baits that are sealed.

sorry for dragging up these old posts but was wondering if whether the sinking Starwalker will troll okay? I presume the floating would be no good for that. Is the sinking or floating easier to get a good action out of with casting/retrival for a newbie to stickbaits like me? like the look of the Kahawhai or the Kohuru. nice.

I would say the troll speed is more of an issue...we were trolling river to sea rover 230(floaters) in tauranga and i had two strikes at the lure but didnt catch....dont know about trolling the sinking ones...id be inclined to troll the floaters and find the speed that worked them nice.

you can probably troll either lure but the speed should not be so fast to cause the lure to broach and lose action on the surface. Some experimentation is needed.

Trolling is nowhere near as much fun as casting for them and not nearly as rewarding.
But saying that there are days where trolling is required to help locate the fish, if oyu are using the lures for simply locating the fish then it is simple choose a floating one and do not take your eyes off the lure. You will be amazed how many fish actually come up on the lures and have a swipe or you see a swirl behind the lure, wiht a sinking lure you will not see any of this.
For me in this situation it is more about finding the fish to go back and cast to than actually catching but hey thats just me.

Found a bunch of these lures in the discount bin at the local store, so brought one to try. Do they work okay with single hooks? , and what size? Might end up getting a few more.

8 or 9mm split rings and shogun or decoy inline 7/0 eg...those are 8/0 on there and found them a bit big...prefer to fish them with 7/0 inline than 3/0 owner trebles....better action.
