Went out on a charter on Akura today, with a bunch of kiwis I'm working with rebuilding the wharf.
We're over here until mid next year, and plan to spend some time on the water.

Had high expectations as the fishing had been good recently for wahoo and mahimahi, and with an out of season marlin landed mid week.

Setout at 7am, lures in the water by 7.02 as its into it as soon as you leave the harbour. Was mint weather. All the Charter boats were out and trolling the North side between the Airport and Blackrock. There'd been a number of Wahoo caught in the last week, and true to form we landed one about 8.30 am.

Trolled out wide and eventually found some birds, and immediately hooked up a 20kg mahi mahi. Tried a bit longer, but went quiet so headed home.

All in all a great morning and well looked after by Cameron and Cory on Akura.
