Been looking for this pic for a while - sorry it is ten years old.

Made this popper and a few like it from some pine dowel back in the '90s somewhere. Took them to Barrier on a trip and came across a workup just outside Fitzroy. Banged a cast in thinking I would be in for a xos kahawai and this fella turned up! An hour later the baitrunner and ugly stick helped me get it in on 8kg.
Still my most memorable fish.
I had no idea at that point that one day I would seriously consider spending $190 on a stickbait. Finding this makes me realise I will never need to.

You've obviously been there Mozz - at least 30 mins! Was the worst 30 mins of my fishing career! Most marlin I had caught had been in in less than half that time, I wasn't sure what was going on.

Funny Ian, the lure challenge was what made me hunt this down - I was seriously going to enter it. Thought the better of it though when I saw Denis' effort - didn't want to take the piss.

Has inspired me to get into it though - am about to buy a new house and the main requisite was a pair of man rooms for rod building and lure painting.
