Yea the misses has a caravan at the Park in Mangawhai so easy base with Langs and Waipu just round the corner. Never fished that area from a yak, just done some surfcasting. Looking forward to it though. The misses will be fishing with me. Hopefully they'll still be some goodies around when mid June hits Big smile

I can see the screen okay.....have to admit that the binoculars help alot LOLLOLLOL

The screen is not that far away, it's more the angel of the light on the screen that makes it difficult. But then, give me a few more years of peering through keyholes and being blinded by salt spray and I may not even be able to see the board in the first place. Cry

Yeah...What is that with him?  I heard him once over 500m away, it was a pitch black morning and very still when he let rip....scared the living daylights out of me. What made it worse was the eerie cackling laugh he let out afterwards....scared  me even more! I was to scared to even ask if he was alright! All I could see was the dim glow of his sounder in the distance.......or was it?

Just had a quick chat with the organiser, with the entries already in and knowing that a few will leave it til a few days out, it looks as though there is going to be a good turnout.

For the growth and development of the sport of Kayak Fishing, it is important that we all do our bit to support comps like the "Bridge To Cape"

A big thanks to all of those who have shown their support so far.

If the weather is anywhere near what it has been like over the past month it will be a fantastic competition.

As it stands Sunday is looking like the best day out of the two. Had a check on swellmap and Saturday is looking like 20+knot winds early morn to afternoon easing off in the evening leaving Sunday looking good. This is for Aucks as far north as Whangarie Heads.

Make sure you have some Bite product in your kit also.

Bite are giving away a $100 Bite pack with heaps of goodies in it ,to the person that weighs in the heaviest fish caught on a Bite product. Just present the culprit with the fish when you weigh it in.
Check out the product and your nearest supplier at http://www.bitefishing.co.nz - www.bitefishing.co.nz

Anything big off the Stand Up Board will be a bonus for me, as I have loaned my kayak out for the weekend and the SUP needs some more time on the water. Have just had some great reports come in of where the big ones are hanging..Aye Big Blue Wink

Plenty of guys dropping in as they pass through this morning, one or two just to perv at the Stealth 495, sticky paw prints everywhere..........

Sun is shining, but by the way the clouds are moving through, the wind wont be to far behind.

Looks like it is building to be a big weekend.

Some of the Naki Boys just came in and interrupted my writing, reminds me of the great friendships we build in this fantastic sport. I gave them all of the GPS spots I have learned from "Limitless" yeah right...there aint that much love Wink

Heaviest is just over 8kg currently.

Weather where myself and a few others were Wink, was fantastic until mid day, then the wind kicked up a wee bit. Not so much fun on the SUP.

Hey Shamus. Any news on the winning fish?

Tried out Te Aria, very nice little spot and could be productive, but not today. There were a few ganets around diving in for some bait fish but no big predators. Tried nuc chicken and had a big piece fillet of mullet on another line. Only managed to stay out for about 30-40mins this time around before the wind and rain came through again. Still 30-40mins on the water is better than a good day at work..... Big smile

Winning fish was caught on the first day at 8.6 KG, 2nd was 7 kg and 3rd 6.6 kg. Plenty of stories of the monsters that got away.
