been offered a trinidad tn 16, on a kamikazi 8'6 pro gt popper rod, pe6-pe8, for $500 rod never been used and reel in 9-10 condition, sound like a good deal?
 kindof fits into my budget,

sounds like the rod is made for lures around 200gms and is quite long is the made for a overhead/or spin reel, not sure if a trini 16 would up to it trying to stop a king on the charge after taking top water lure.maybe try and move the trini and get a spin reel could be a option

cheers took the advice and got a azusa pe4-6 think it should do for what i want in nz and exmouth nor west auz, just got to find a spinning reel to match it, any ideas

Any one had a play with the Okuma salina II?. Good price point.
  
  I would still go the saltist for top water spin action in around $500
