On a budget a 10-15 kg or 15-24 kg kilwell jelly tip would do it....If you want quality for the job...Thats another story...both these rods are 7 foot 3...however their guides are not the best for braid but mono would be fine.

I have an 8ft Van Staal GT lot of rod for the buck.  Has great feel for casting and playing the fish. I wouldn't go much below a 7ft 6 rod you'll need it for casting.

If I'm not taking photos I'm fishing. If I'm not fishing I'm taking photos, either way I'm having fun.

The Certate is a good but small reel,it will be fun to use thats for sure.Maybe check out the Daiwa Demonblood sticks, they feel suitable for that sized reel, and would suit the baits you will use with that setup 60-100g?.The ratings on them are a bit over estimated in my opinion but still should suit the application.

You can pop with a 6'3" rod effectively but there are lots of variables. Rod should be matched primarily to the weight of the lure, this match gives the right amount of snap out of the rod tip to give you that casting distance. I use a 6'3" monster mesh to cast light poppers when fishing PE4 on a Twin Power 4000 which is broadly equivalent to what you are talking about. This is my LIGHT set though, big fish around and I wont use it also it is maxed out at around 80gm lures.

Most popping stick bait rods are around 7'6" +, generally more length = longer cast. But a correct weight lure on a shorter rod will still fly a long way.

I just bought a backbone elite popper rod (new season stock) think its around $240 so was hard to go past for value, casting and action is great, yet to be tested in anger though but feels like a fair but of grunt in it.
The other rod I looked at was a van staal, and couldn't really find too much of a difference in the shop (didn't cast the van staal)

Off the rocks I have used my kilwell jellytip rocky 2, which is about 8'2" or so, and is great but as pointed out not exactly suited for braid.

The first popper rod I bought was/is a Pioneer GT - got it for about $70. Supposedly can be hit and miss (some break) but its a pretty cheap intro to see if you are into this type of fishing.

I will be using both this summer in anger (hopefully)

What reel are you using?

Longer rod is not only required for casting length but also to work the poppers and stick baits.

Did the same mate only on a Spin LTD Edtion job makes it a damn nice rod for a bit of popper chucking or as a heavier strayline number.
